What's it worth--rust free 56step

Got an opportunity to buy this Texas 56 Stepside. It is straight as an arrow but is a project--in prime. Needs glass& interior. Has small rear glass and is currently a 6cyl 3spd, not running. Great doghouse, great cab, great bed but needs floor. Comes with a rebuilt 327 to install. Guy wants like $5,000. and around here it's impossible to find a rust free older truck. I kind of think $4,000. should be about the right price but am not that familiar with the market on these trucks. Opinions----

$5k seems step for a non-running truck. Check out eBay for comparisons...

Re: What's it worth--rust free 56step

Well, for comaprison...

I have a '59 I put a 55/6 front end on, rebuilt and swappped in a dana44 w/3/54 posi, ran new brake lines, new wheel cylinders, has a real sweet 235, recored radiator, new water pump, rebuilt carb. Also put new bearing in the front...and rebuilt the MasterCylinder.

Has maybe 6-8 hours of body/metal work needed, floors are good, etc. Doesn't need glass, just recovering of the seat. and new paint inside/out.

It's in primer too.

I'd probably price it at 4500-OBO if I were selling it.

I think you can do much better and find a running, decent truck to work with.

BTW, mines aBig Back window.

a guy I know bought a '47-48 5 window truck (not same as the 1 you're looking at thought) rust free I saw the cab and it was as nice as you want it, for $300, that's right 300 greenbacks had it shipped from TX to PA for free on top
