Question Question from new member...

Hello from north central Florida. I have just found this site and am glad, as it has many good things from what I have seen so far. I have a question, and it is sort of long. I currently own a 69 C/10 long bed. It is not heavily optioned, no a/c or comfort items, but it has p/s and an auto trans with the 307 that was 2 barrel that I switched to an edelbrock 4 for drivability. It needs paint but has no rust through, even in the bed, and is only 112 thousand miles. I have 3 Thunderbirds, 1973, 1967 and a 1959 convert., and like the old stuff alot. This truck is really great, to me, because it is simple and easy and fun to drive and very good looking in styling. Here is the question. My father owns a 69 also, a CamperSpecial with factory 350, 202 heads, turbo 400, and a 1ton rear with 4.56 gears. He is wanting to part with it. The body is not as good as mine, solid, but he had the patch panels welded in years ago when he repainted it. I am wondering if I should buy the truck, pull the motor-trans and sell just the truck frame and body OR if the truck is something that should be kept together. The truck has probably 200,000 miles or more on it. I know the engine and drivetrain is real solid, 4 bolt mains. Anyway, his truck is also with out factory a/c, etc. Just not sure what these trucks are worth.
I am sort of thinking about pulling the engine and trans and selling the body. What would just a servicable body be worth?
I appreciate any ideas.

I would leave both trucks complete as they are:
If your dads is available at a good price buy it and sell the one you don't want to restore. Use the money on the keeper.
Truck parts won't always bring as much as a complete and running truck.

Just my .02 cents worth

you could buy the truck, swap drivetrains and sell the other one as a running truck..... you'd get more out of it that way.
