Headers ain't a fittin'

I've installed a set of Jegs headers on my suburban. It's a 454, 4wd. I've got two issues. The right header collector is around 1/8" from the front drive shaft. The second issue (less than the first) the best fit I can get the exhaust pipe to fit between the frame and x-case support arm is 1/4". I figure that this is okay since the pipe is going to move with the x-case. I've got a heat shield that goes between the pipe and fuel lines. I still need to cut and align the pipe exit straight out the rear. Pictures are attached. Thoughts? Maybe heat up the headers and bend away from the drive shaft? By the way, the shaft isn't pink-that's red overspray. Thanks, Tom

Re: Headers ain't a fittin'

I would give the header a little "push" with a porta power. I have also used a come-along to pull a header away from a starter before. You won't have to heat it up for what little it needs to move.

Re: Headers ain't a fittin'

I had the the flanges cut off mine and welded together. Cleaner but again you can't take them apart once you do. Its a small block but if you want a picture I will post one. Doug

Re: Headers ain't a fittin'

looks to me like the gasket it sticking out more then the flange maybe trim that back for clearance or grind down the flanges there. As for the pipes it looks like a different bend is needed to bring it over towards the case more or drop it below the x-member.
