No Tranny Fluid in 05 Tahoe !! HELP ME OUT

OK so I bought this Tahoe with 45K on it about one month ago Aprox 2500 miles since I bought it. Today leaving work the truck seemed to miss or slip a little. So when I got home I checked the Tranny fluid. The stick was dry! I checked under the truck from the front to back. Everything is clean. Looks brand new. I started adding fluid to the tranny and running it through the gears. I then would shout it off and let it sit for 1/2 hour. I started it up and warmed it up and checked it, long story short I added 1 1/4 qrts of fluid and its just at the bottom of the hot check marks. I drove it in again to work and checked it right after driving and its still at the bottom of the check mark.

Any help ? Suggestions?

fill it and then check it ...alot..also check your rad to see if the cooler is leaking....if not and your still loosing fluid its probably getting sucked out though a vacum line

No leaks up front that I can see. Does the vacum line go out the top of the tranny? Like I said there are no wet spots on the truck. I park it on concrete and no puddles.

Were does the line end up? Ill try and check that tonight

it will be hard to see it in a vacum line...I would guess you have a 700 or 200 trans and I don't know enough about them to know where it comes out of the trany but they all end up pulling vacume from the intake usually in the back....someone will jump in I'm sure

Re: No Tranny Fluid in 05 Tahoe !! HELP ME OUT

tranny is the 4l60E. I sent the reply with out thinking much about the vacumm line. I would be blowing smoke because it would go directly into the combustion chamber. So thats not a issue. Well maybe someone will have a idea.

I ran this truck for about 2500 miles since I bought the truck. Not sure when the leave was down as I checked it at test drive. do you think I did alot of damage ?

don't be fooled by the lack of smoke it would be in such small amounts you wouldn't notice

Theres no vacuum line going to a 4L60E. Like hottrucks said, check the radiator for trans fliud floating on the top of the antifreeze. Are you sure there is no external leaks.

A word of caution.......... DONT drive your truck low on trasmission fluid. The number one killer of a 4L60E is low fluid level.

What he said. Look real close at the rear seal on the tranny, tranny cooler lines, trans fluid in the radiator and front of trans at the bell housing.

Well after about 3 hours of looking and finding no leaks I called the dealer. He talked with some techs and they said its common on these. Theres a seal between the tranny and transfer case that will go out. The fluid from the tranny will go into the transfer case and show no leaks. The fluid will keep seeping over until the transfer case is full and then the tranny will take fluid on. Fix is drain and flush transfer case and tranny. Replace seal.

I guess the transfer case is has lower pressure so the tranny fluid seeks the path of least resistance.
Dealer is fixing under warranty

Re: No Tranny Fluid in 05 Tahoe !! HELP ME OUT

well got it the tahoe back. I was looking the job over and there seems to be some oil from the back of the tail shaft. ITs not tranny fluid but oil like. I wioed it off and checked for two days. Nothing leaking out. Could this have been assembly lube?

yea i cleaned it all off and seems not to be back .... feeew.

Seems to be all working well. The dealer actually took it back to the Chevy dealer for the work to be done. So I feel better about that.
