Red face This is taking forever ! (Flip down Light/ Body work)

Just everything !

Mainly the flip down tail light I have hinged it 2 times now and it still does not work nicely with out scraping the side or bottom lip of the box side before it is open far enough to undo the gas cap. The body work is also taking a long time. It's so fustrating Cause I want to drive it this summer and everyone around here is driving their nice cars and trucks again. I hope I can get it painted soon. It should not be much longer. mabye the end of June Who knows ? I am taking my time so that it will turn out really nice and have no regreats.

Kinda Venting cause it does not look any diffirent than it did a month ago.

Stay focused, you're doing a great job the wait will be worth it in the end. How about some pics of the filler and details?

It's all in the details. In the end you'll appreciate getting it right.

Hey dude I am right there with ya. I have a car show I wanna bring the truck to on July 18 but at this point I dont know if is will go or not. As much as I wanna take it cruising I won't do anything shotty on it cause I know I will regret it. Just take your time and it will come out the way you imagined it when you first started.

I know exactly what you are talking about. My schedule is so full, that the truck just sits there begging for attention.

Yha ,
I want to take my truck to a couple of shows in July. I guess that I may skip the Trick 383 till the winter and run my dads 355 he had in his truck. It still works really good but he saw the plans for a 383 and deecided that he was going to have one in his work truck.

Flip filler.

It's a PaiN, I am using a paino hinge form Home Depot. I have cut it to fit and made some brackets to mount it so that I can bolt it in place. it looks like it will work really nice ! I will take some pics then scan them . To hold it shut I am going to use a magnet poper for a Cabinet. You know the kind that you push it pop's out a 1/2 " or so then you pull it open the rest of the way ?

Thanks for understading

The piano hinge will not give you enough throw. That is why your fighting it. Go to the junk yard and get a hinge assembly from anything with a side mount gas, like chevy truck, camaro, vette, cavalier, sunbird, just about all will work and will pitch the light out away from the body giving you the proper throw to clear the body. Plus they are really strong and will pull themselves back closed without the magnet.

Thanks NSANE68
I have tried a couple but I just did not know what needed to happen with the pivot movement. I think i will get sooner or later.

Kinda Have to cause I cut out the stake pocket where the light use to bolt to. I left the ledge so that it would keep the light in the right spot.
