A/C vents

Are the two ball vents on the dash supposed to be the same color as the dash or are they usually black. I have seen quite a few of them that are all black in junkyards but have also seen some that matched the dash. Also, anyone ever buy a new "Vehicle Options" sticker for the glove box for these year trucks? If so, what did you do? Did you re-type in all the options and numbers or what? The original in my '72 is tearing and I know some day it is going to blow out the door so I'm thinking about getting a new one for it. Anyone done this before. Thanks.

The only one of the 3 I've had that was equipped with A/C (the Blue Longhorn) had dash colored housings with chrome balls.
The inside had never been painted.

mine are crome with black ball. 70 Custom/10. I had them
rechromed a few years ago and they have held up good.
I can't say the same for the gauge bezel and upper air
vent. I am going to do it again this Fall.

Mine were originally dash-color (blue) but I just replaced them with black. Plastic does not last well over 33 years.

it could either be painted to match, or be black. but most of them had the chrome balls in the center. as for the options sticker, there is an excel spreadsheet that was made up to look like the original one. i've got it and can email it to you, lugnut if you want. just let me know.

a/c dash vents

Thanks guys. Seems to be many variations...I will probably leave mine black, I am not sure how well paint would stick. Can they be dyed? Special paint?

there is a thread in the FAQ section with a Microsoft excel program to reproduce the options sheet and print it yourself. I did it for my truch and it turned out great. I can email you a copy of mine if you need one. I did a little work on it and it is as close the the original as i could get it.

by the way my ac housing are brown (like the dash) with a chrome ball

Let me know
