Chop it up or go all original?
I am fixing up a 1952 Chevy short bed pickup I just picked up this week. (don't have any pics will get soon) It came with an extra cab as the cab on it right now is pretty rusty. It is pretty beat and has a lot of surface rust but not very much really bad rust and it is very original, no one has hacked it up at all, it has the original motor and trans and all. I would really like to stick it on an s10 frame with a 5.3l and a floor shift 5 speed. I don't want to hack up a truck this original though and just use the body and interior. I don't mind putting it back to original stock but that seems like it will be pretty expensive. I am eventually going to sell this to move on to another project though and I have to think about resale value as well. What do you guys think?

Do what will make you happy, there is nothing sacred about these trucks. I'm not sold on the S-10 swaps though.

I've got an S10 swap and have started a second. Leevon's right. They are NOT the end all, be all. A Dakota is a nice idea and so is a dropped axle from Sid and running an original frame. They made well over a million of these trucks and they are trucks, I don't see someone knocking down your door for an original resto.
As for "resale" are you sure you're in the right hobby?! |

Swap cab, restore the truck to original. Take the other cab, chop, cut... place on a boxed frame and rat it out

its hard for some people to cut up something like that but it's up to you. How do you want this truck to drive? The s10 swap is an easy inexspencive way to get disc brakes, power steering and IFS to make it a more enjoyable drive, it's nice to have the old truck with out the old truck ride. It's up to you

anybody can restore a truck,..it takes a REAL man to chop one up!
 restore it back to factory will co$t you more than you'll ever be able to $ell it for,build it cheap and cool that's where you'll make a profit.
