02 2500HD crewcab 4x4 diesel rough ride- Any advice?

I recently bought an 02 2500HD crewcab 4x4 diesel. It has around 210k miles. It has a rough ride, especially when empty. The p.o. installed Rancho shocks but mentioned it was probably time for a new set. This truck replaced a 93 GMC k2500 x cab lwb with a 350 nv4500 that rode as smoothly empty or loaded as my precious 97 c1500 xcab swb. The wife doesnt like to ride in it because of the rough ride. When i bought it, it had worn out bfg all terrain 285 70 r 16s and also drove terribly. I got a deal ($400) on 4 Nearly new falken rocky mtn at 265 70 r 16s which helped the driving but still rides rough no matter what tire pressure i run. I think my rear leads are shot as the truck sags more than the 93 k2500 did with the same load. Any advice? Different shocks? Air bags? New leaf springs? All the above?

I have a truck very similar to yours, less mine has a 3" lift, 305/75 tires, and 262k miles on it, that were mostly towing. Mine also rides horrible and all my suspension parts are pretty new. I think it's just the nature of the beast.

GET better set of shocks for off road rancho's are great but on road they are not that great get you a good set of bilstein shocks or monroe reflex shocks it will smooth it out alot

Spend the money on some Bilstiens, you wont regret it and they aren't very expensive, 40-80 a piece for the 5100 or 5150 series.
