Ever Hear of the Dagmar Bumper?
Well, if you havn't,, then read on.. If you find more pronounced Dagmar bumpers ,,then I say go for it and post photos of all the busty bumpers you can find..car bumpers that is .
Dagmar (born Virginia Ruth Egnor, November 29, 1921 – October 9, 2001) was an American actress, model and television personality of the 1950s. As a statuesque, busty blonde, she became the first major female star of television. Dagmar bumpers, also known simply as Dagmars (D-HAG-mar) is a slang term for the artillery shell shaped styling elements found on the front bumper/grille assemblies on several makes of cars produced in the 1950s, an era recognized for its flamboyant designs and excessive use of chrome details. Re: Ever Hear of the Dagmar Bumper?
Hey Larry, Are you sure it isn't because of the relationship with her Dagmars? I'm just noticing she had a pair and the bumper bumps came in pairs.......just sayin

Re: Ever Hear of the Dagmar Bumper?
Ya’ can’t see the front bumper, but it’s a 54 so they are there.
And yup, that’s me late 60’s… that’s a Hammond M100 (series) behind me, along with two Leslie tone cabinets. |

Re: Ever Hear of the Dagmar Bumper?
GOPAPA, thanks for posting, I've heard the "slang" term Dagmar's for years, but never knew what the actress looked like and often wondered (in my dreams).
Thanks again, now I can cross it off my bucket list!

Here's what Dagmars looked like when they were younger. They're much smaller but they light up!

Re: Ever Hear of the Dagmar Bumper?
The rubber ones are firm yet softer to touch than chrome.

Re: Ever Hear of the Dagmar Bumper?
As shown on the green Merc posted earlier,Dagmars were so popular it wasn't enough to be born with them. Other's would go under the knife to add artificial Dagmars. Even some of those born with Dagmars others would die for opted to augment theirs to further accent they're distinct shape,as seen in the car below
