longhorn Emblems for 1969

I am in need to purchase a set of longhorn emblems and the bed has 2 holes where the emblems were but unfortunately the originals were tore off and broken at some point in her life. I have the originals but can't convince myself to double side tape them on........anyone have a leeds on where i can get some? i have researched buying new ones but none specify if they have mounting prongs on them or not....

Help Chevy World!!!!!!!

Re: longhorn Emblems for 1969

Service replacements (aka NOS) should have all the pins present.
As well as the reproductions but asking a vendor directly would tell you today.

Emblem tape would probably work and surely be better than the screws I so often see. But you would need to do a lot of cutting to make it look right.

Since NPD right there in Ventura dosen't have them in stock you could call them and ask about the studs on a their "Trim Parts" brand reproduction.

Or maybe down at Classic, Brothers or The Truck Shop.

There was just a NOS set on ebay. I will also mention I have seen the longhorn emblems with 2 and I believe 4 studs

Re: longhorn Emblems for 1969

If that is the case you need to become a subscriber and place a WTB "want to by" ad in the classified section.

For what its worth it looks like the eBay service replacement parts are tape backed and only use the two pins as locators. If yours are not bent you can probably put them back with tape. Just do it correctly with name brand tape and chemically clean surfaces, warm metal and a heat gun.

If you haven't been to NPD's warehouse there in Ventura its worth the trip.

My 69 Longhorn appears to have never had the emblems installed.
No holes in the fender. Was that common?

I see that. Mine is faded red but no shadow lettering behind it. It doesn't appear they were there for some reason. None the less, $99 a pop, I won't be springing for them anyway.

My 70 didn't have holes. I have a set of emblems....2 pin emblems. One has a pin broken off so I got them for free. What I plan on doing is

Carefully removing all pins.
Gluing 400 grit sandpaper to a flat surface.
Smoothing and flattening the surface of the emblems.
Clean and paint emblems.
Use the 3M emblem tape 03609 to attach.

Now if I can only find exactly where they should be on a 70, I'm good.

The emblems on the 69-72 Longhorns go in front of the rear marker light while the 68s had the emblem above the marker light
