Radio sound up and down

Hey folks,
Have original am radio in my 70 c-20.
When on volume level fluctuates at slightest touch to control knobs or push buttons. If you play with controls it can create some static and popping sounds but very touchy.
Is there some basic fixes I can attempt before removing and replacing?
Thanks for your time,
Serge

Re: Radio sound up and down

Rock the volume control knob low to high volume,( with radio off so you dont blow your ears out) a whole bunch of times. the volume pot is a little corroded from not being used. you could try some spray contact cleaner on the shaft going into the radio to see if it reaches the contacts. might work for a while, try it...

Re: Radio sound up and down

If the shaft is actually wobbling its repair/replacement time.

Thumbs up Re: Radio sound up and down

IT WORKED! Got CRC electrical connection spray at local hardware store. Sprayed, turned knobs back and forth, and repeated.
Volume now works correctly.
Thank you guys.
