72 Blazer frame stretch?

Alright I can get my hands on a good 72 Blazer 4x4 frame. My question to the masses is are these frames the same as a pickup frame? Besides being 10" shorter of course. My 70 4x4 SWB frame has been hacked up to the point I would rather stretch the Blazer frame if I could. Does anyone have any experience/knowledge with the difference between the two frames that can give me some good info? Thanks everyone

Re: 72 Blazer frame stretch?

You would be money ahead just finding a good truck frame especially if you don't want one that is all hacked up as you mentioned.

Re: 72 Blazer frame stretch?

Or finding a lwb 4x4 frame and shortening that one. Then sell the blazer frame and come out money ahead.

Re: 72 Blazer frame stretch?

Finding a decent repairable frame here in Maryland is easier said than done, most of the 4x4's were used as snow plow trucks and as we all know salted roads and steel frames don't mix well. That's why I'm trying to figure out if the early year blazer frame would work. I have no problems shortening a long bed if I could find a decent one.
