Another 4 eyed horn!!! Camper special factory air and that bronze color in California should be fairly rust free.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

Found this in Austin, and went to check it out myself. The engine is clean and sounds great. The radiator looks new, but the engine and most of the main components are original factory parts -- even the AC system. (The AC/Heater blower isn't strong so that will need to be checked out, but I'm not too worried about that.) I took it for a drive and it corners great, has no problems getting up to 70 on the highway, and the brakes are tight. Stopping is no problem. Here's the issue with this truck... the sliding glass in the window look like they're just two piece of glass cut to fit just enough. There's no latch or rubber seals so they either need to be replaced or the whole window switched to a solid rear windshield. The driver's side vent window is missing or has become disconnected from the post-arm so it dangles when it opens. Most of the door and window seals are decent enough, but will need to be replaced to be used as a daily driver. Then, there's the paint. Some knucklehead thought it would be a good idea to cover the original olive green paint with a half-assed white/yellow two tone paint job. They even painted over some of the accent pieces like the Cheyenne decal on the front driver quarter panel. It has the original AM radio, all the original nobs, nice carpet, the seat has tears but is in good condition. The body lines are straight and the only missing trim is what goes around the rear tail lights.

I'd like to buy this as my daily driver. I told the guy I'd give him $5500, but not sure that's decent deal for a truck that's going to need some work before it can be a true daily driver. My main concerns are the rear windshield, the driver side vent window, and the crappy paint job. Everything else really does look, sound, and runs great. What do yall think?

Here's the text from the ad:

1972 CHEVROLET C10 FACTORY A/C ORIGINAL MILES ($6500)

MILEAGE :93039
EXTERIOR COLOR: YELLOW
INTERIOR :GREEN
TRANSMISSION: AUTOMATIC
FUEL:GAS
TITLE STATUS: CLEAN

I used to live in South Range...that definitely looks like something you'd see parked at the VFW any given night.

This has been for sale for a while, like since last fall. Looks like a decent truck to me. I would think it hasn't sold because there are too many nice trucks in the the Truck Rich Tri States of Washington, Oregon & Idaho that could be had for substantially less money.

1972 Chevy C-10 Big Block *** - $8000 (Dripping Springs)

I am selling my C-10 truck I have had for years. This truck is an Arizona truck but it does have some rust on the rocker panels. This truck is an original truck with factory A/C , Tilt steering , power steering and disc brakes. I recently had a big block 462 built for the truck using a 1973 stingray 454. Has a QFT slayer 750 carb . Eldelbrock intake , Has a spitfire distributer. big lumpy cam. The truck has an electric fuel pump and electric fan with upgraded alternater and AC compressor. It has the new serpentine belt system , It also has a new Turbo 350 trans built to withstand 800 HP from winner circle transmissions in san Antonio with a 2600 stall converter. New dash , newer carpet original factory radio
(not cut-out ) new instrument bezel etc. The motor has less than 100 miles on it. It drove from the machine shop to the house and sat. I don't have any time to fool with the truck. Please text or call for any more info thanks. 830-sixone3-499eight.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

1971 Chevy C10 pickup truck - $12500 (Dallas tx love field airport)

Selling a very clean 71 C10 Cheyenne long bed. It has a 350 v8 and 350 auto transmission. AC and heat and new hei distributor and new edelbrock carb.
Factory power disk brakes, tach, am fm radio, new exhaust, power steering, all new CCP lowering springs 3&4 inch drop. New BOSS wheels with low profile 20's and a nice tonneau cover. If this truck was a shortbed it would easily be over 20k. Asking 12,500 and worth every penny. At this price it won't last. These trucks are becoming very sought after.

Will trade for other cool classic or modern cars, boats, real estate, etc.

Looks to be a nice truck but most around here are priced at around 5k or so...Granted this one is pretty darn clean looking.

That's a nice truck, but I'm tired of seeing it listed about 10 different ways in every city in tx when I do a CL search.... And I love ochre.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

I'm dying to know if it has parchment door panels (i.e. if perhaps it might be a hidden highlander...) Has the 72 DG4s on it and I smell plaid... Regardless, seems to be a good deal at $3500 for a C20 CustomD Custom Camper with a big block. Sacramento sure has a lot of nice old trucks on the market all the time.

I think I looked at this one in Marysville on my way to my cabin. It wasn't for sale then. I don't remember it having parchment anything. It had a black interior. It also had woodgrain lower trim.

Scrap value alone is about $400-$500. So you're getting all that for really, $500-$600. Sounds like a good deal.

Scrap is $30/T so more like $200 max. I'm finding some prices are starting to drop again for the rust buckets as they are usually in line with scrap prices in my market. $500 on that truck is ok, not much more due to rust though.

Re: Post Your Craigslist Finds

I think it's a good deal by itself because of the low scrap value. Here in Alabama scrap yards are paying between $3-4 a hundred so that is $108-144 for a 3600 lb truck.

Interesting....that's an awful lot of labor cost built into that asking price. Given the cost of paint jobs/restorations etc etc, he's not totally unreasonable. Have seen worse for much more. If I was close, would certainly set an appointment w/the guy to check it out.
