Removal of Ground Effects and Fender Flares?

I am considering picking up this 1997 Stepside and was wondering if I could remove the ground effects and fender flares around the fenders for a cleaner look. I'm assuming the ground effects kit is one of those conversions????

I would also would remove that bumper cover and various other things.

OK, thank you. And yes, I'm rather fond of the sportsides minus all the accessories myself.

Re: Removal of Ground Effects and Fender Flares?

I have a 1993 Mark III conversion truck. The flares and running boards are just bolted on. I took mine off after I bought the truck from my dad (he bought it new). I lowered it 2/4 and slapped on some 18" boss 338 wheels.
Attached are before and after pics.

Oh ok, that's good news. Your truck looks nice. I have to admit, the before picture with the Mark III looks really good with that stance.

The before pic is the truck at stock height with only 2" drop shackles in the rear.
Only thing Im going to do is change out the rear wheels to a wider wheel and wider tire, It just looks too skinny in the rear right now.
I still have the flares and running boards stored in the shop, never know when I might want it to look like the before pic again.

Yep, they're just bolt-on's. I will say though that once I decided to remove the ones from my old '93, it left some ugly scuffs in the paint. That, of course, wasn't an issue after it got repainted (primer actually). Just something to keep in mind.

I was wondering once the ground effects were removed if there would be issues underneath. Thanks for the confirmation. Guess I'll keep them on as long as I can until it's repaint time. By the way, I love your truck in the link and remember seeing on it here and really liking it long before looking for an 88-98 OSB.

Can't say for sure how bad it may (or may not) be. It might be something you can live with temporarily. But there'll no doubt be some blemishes once you remove them. Thanks for the compliments on my old truck.
