School Me In Grill Emblems.

I'm going to put this on the pickup site, because I think more Blazer guys come to the pickup site that than the other way around and I think this might apply to both. I have a 78 K5 Blazer Cheyenne and the grill emblem is thin stamped aluminum that is painted goldish. My uncle had a 78 K10 Scottsdale when I was a kid and I remember it having an emblem that was yellow transparent plastic. I seem to see product literature from Chevy in 1978 that shows both. I also see references to a K10 Blazer, something I don't think exists, but that's another topic. Who's got the skinny on grill emblems? How was it decided what got what?

Every Blazer grill I have seen on the 78, actually 75-79, have the plastic emblem like the attached pic.

Re: School Me In Grill Emblems.

Yeah that is the one I called yellow that my uncle's Scottsdale had. My Cheyenne Blazer has this, the center is goldish (it's hard to tell in this pic). My grill is charcoal also and I seem to remember my uncles' was a lighter gray. I'm wondering if these differences are Cheyenne related or was is time of year or the plant they came out of.

There was 2 different Grille emblems from 75-79. Silverado's had the nicer raised emblem like TCKR posted above and lower end trucks like Custom Deluxe got the plain flat emblem like the pic BHTH posted.

My uncle's was only a Scottdale, rubber floor and no headliner, mine a Cheyenne carpet and headliner, so that theory sounds backwards.

So a Scottsdale was a higher option than a Cheyenne?

Re: School Me In Grill Emblems.

In fact it had to do with whether the V22 option was selected when the vehicle was ordered. The base grille emblem was the thin aluminum / painted chevy emblem. The V22 option brought about the nicer yellow grille emblem along with polished stainless steel grille moldings. This is how it should have worked from the factory. The Silverado automatically got the V22 upgrade. The V22 was available on all other models depending upon if it was ordered. So a Cheyenne / Scottsdale may or may not have it. Check your SPID

Re: School Me In Grill Emblems.

It was the same in the US. 75C10 hit the nail on the head with the V22 option that could be had on Scottsdales or Cheyennes. Silverados automatically got the V22 in their trim package, so natedogg was half right.
