Heater core
My 1999 ccsb 7.4 4l80 Lost the heater core today.
Read up a bit one way says 30 minute job, one said 4 hours any real life advice?

The dash has to come out. Book time is 5.5 hrs. Ive had the dashes out of these trucks. It's not hard, just time consuming.

99 must be quite different than 93? I did my old PU and was quite surprised at how easy it was. Been a while but I am sure it wasn't more than an hour and a half. Hardest part was removing the hoses.

That's why I was asking.
One said 30 minutes tops one said 5 hours. Trying to decide to farm it out or do it myself

Here is what I'm going to try.

I did a little research. Some trucks have an access panel in the HVAC housing to reach the heater core with out taking the HVAC housing out of the truck.
My 96 C3500HD has that access panel. My 99 K2500 does not. My 96 was built in Janesville. My 99 was built in Flint. |

I know it is not the same year but that is the how my PU was. I think it was a 94, but it was a surprisingly easy job for a heater core. If you have the same access is really not a bad job.

In my '88 , It took me 4 hours the first time to loosen the dash...
Next time it took me 30 minutes.. you only have to raise the right side up, after loosening the hole thing. Man-o-man.... but it takes a lot of prying to get the heater core out
