Upper A-Arm compatibility?
So my upper a-arm bushings are squeaking and I don’t want to deal with replacing the bushings . I’d rather replace the whole a-arm. I can’t fnd 67-72 stock type arms, but could I use 73+ ?
Thanks |

Re: Upper A-Arm compatibility?
From what I understand you have to change the front complete under carriage assembly to get the updated rubber bushings in the front end.
The 67-72 all used metal bushings in the upper and lower A-arms, Get a front from a 73-87 and rebuild it. Unless someone knows of a supplier of control arm shafts that are upgraded to the rubber bushing type? Most aftermarket stock style is all steel for 67-72. |

Re: Upper A-Arm compatibility?
I was hoping to just bolt a 73-87 upper arm on

Re: Upper A-Arm compatibility?
Both early metal style and later rubber style arms use the same bolt spacing where they bolt on to the cross member...
I usually grab the entire cross member from a later truck, rebuild it on the bench jig then install it into the early frame. Hope this helps... |

Re: Upper A-Arm compatibility?
So will the 73+ upper arm just bolt on to my stock setup?

Re: Upper A-Arm compatibility?
I used my factory 70 C-10 crossmember and used 82 control arms, upper and lower with no mounting issues. JUST be sure you get all the upper mounting washers with newer arms.

Re: Upper A-Arm compatibility?
They will work if you use the correct balljoint for the spindle you are using.
