Torque Converter??
Hey,
I am doing a TH350 swap in my 4x4 and need to know which TC will be best. It is a 70 GMC4x4 Short box stock 350 373 gears 33" tires QJet carbed HEI dis It is just a stockish 4x4. Not sure what stall I need. Thanks Ron

Just a ol bone stock converter should be fine .....

There seems to be differemt stall speeds on stock one. Just wondering whay is stock stall speed.

something close to 12-1500 rpm would work great...even at 1200, the taller tire and your gearing will give a couple hundred

If the stall speed of the converter is too low for the design of the vehicle's engine you'll need a firm foot on the brake pedal as it'll be pulling hard at a stop. Also torque in is torque out so a converter can stall at different RPM depending on the engine in front of it.
I think most GM V8 converters stall between 1600-1800 rpm. That should be appropriate for your engine.

We put the Summit 1700-2000 rpm converter in my kid's Jimmy project. Haven't driven it yet, but with a little cam in it should make it a little peppier off the line and make it easier to hold at a light as mentioned above. For $108 and needing a converter in the rebuilt trans seemed a no-brainer.
