That also sounds like a great idea. Wonder how hard it would be to carve out a block to house the mailbox?

Not easy, I would think. However, it has been done.

Some old crank with a good head overcame the manifold problems.

Looks like that one would be a partial differential equation.

That’s a good idea, i got a pile of driveshafts, a few suburban driveshafts that would work great for a mailbox. I can never bring myself to do something like this though cause i always think 5 years from now i might need that driveshaft

Re: Post your WTHeck? Pictures

I'm on the hunt for a big Caterpillar crankshaft for my mailbox post.

I finally found this picture I remember taking. It was a little Toyota being used as something bigger. Ya think a stone or two might like to bounce out of there? A 1t is subjected to scrutiny by DOT while a little bugger like this slips around doing it's own thing. I'm sure the trailer has brakes, too.

Yep. Seen that dozens of times out here. I always put a tarp down in the bed before getting a load of rock or soil. Not one piece of pea gravel will fall from my truck.

Yeah, it's like when I was logging and paying commercial insurance on my 2 ton truck, while one of my "competitors" was hauling huge loads of wood on a gooseneck behind a 3/4 ton pickup

I would see him stop at the little country store / gas station and he could hardly get his load rolling from a dead stop on the flat.

Then when it came time to stop? Or descend a long 6% grade? Wet road?

I dunno ... hopefully he had electric brakes on the trailer.

Just a couple miles below that store/cabins is a steep winding road that goes by the dam and down into the canyon below. It used to be single lane with pull-outs but it's paved two lane now.

Some dig their Jeeps a lot more than others.

I saw this at Safeway in town and for me it was a huge WTF, I mean WTH, in many ways. First thought was "Must be visiting from out of town". Next was simply, "The world has changed"

Re: Post your WTHeck? Pictures

I just can't figure why anyone would want those big wheels and low profile tires on a 4wd/awd ????

I finally got rid of the factory 50R17's from our little car a few years ago. I found some 15" wheels at a salvage yard and switched to a /65 tire which rides much better especially on our dirt roads. The tires are way cheaper too - about $200 less for four!

Style, nothing else, just look at that vehicle. It screams style. As with beauty, style is in the eye of the beholder.

That style does nothing for me -- well, it does make me retch a bit -- but apparently there are those who like that kind of style.
