Are the 3/4 and 1 ton(single tire) 8 lug rear axles the same ???

Re: 8 lug rear end

On the 3/4 ton, some were semi float and some were full float. The big block trucks and the crew cabs got full floats

All of the 1 ton trucks had the full float.

Re: 8 lug rear end

3/4 tons and one tons have different brake setup the one ton has wider shoes so the backing plates have a dish shape and the 3/4 ton are more flat

Re: 8 lug rear end

my 84 diesel 3/4 had a semi-float. it was a 4 speed. no such thing as a 5 speed in a square unless it was bigger than a ton.

My '99 3/4 ton SWB crew-cab has a 5.7/4l80e combo & has the 9.5"/14bolt SF rear. Maybe the 10.5/14bolt FF was a standard BBC thing & optional for SBC's?

Don't go confusing things up. This is the 88-98 forum, so no need to talk about apples when the topic is oranges. And the 5spds in MD trucks, which is yet another topic, were not O/D or anything close to what came in LD trucks of any year

Depends on the GVWR and brake options more than whether it's a 2500 or 3500 chassis.

High GVWR 3/4 and SRW 1 ton can have the same size brakes.
