Re: Weird Style Neutral Safety Switch??

The replacement switches will have two or three extra terminals. Just install, adjust, plug in the connector, and go.

Re: Weird Style Neutral Safety Switch??

I thought they handled both functions. Obviously yours only has one switch.

My 82 with the 700r4 had a 4 terminal switch that controlled the reverse lights as well as the neutral safety switch. It had two terminals on the left of your switch where the holes are "stacked".

Re: Weird Style Neutral Safety Switch??

I just looked at the 1986 GM Light Truck CK10-30 wiring diagrams.
The column switch just handles the reverse lamps.
There is no Neutral safety in the 1986 harness diagrams. The purple Circuit 6 wire goes directly from the CRANK terminal on the ignition switch, through the bulkhead plug, and on to the CRANK terminal on the starter.

The schematic is incorrect.

I just converted from auto to manual so I had all of that apart, and one of the plugs on that switch is the NSS even though it is not shown in the wiring diagram. This was on a 1987 R30.

The 1987 wiring diagrams have a NSS. They're a pain in the neck to read but it's there.
