Hitch Install/Rear Mounted Gas Tank

Hello fellow Chevy/GMC Truckers, it's been a veeerrry long time since I last posted. I've finally got my big boy C20 going, and running strong.

I plan on using it to pull a trailer, hauling a car or dump trailer. However, I also plan on installing a rear mounted gas tank.

Are there any issues with our trucks having BOTH installed, since they're essentially using the same frame space? Pros/Cons? Safety concerns?
*Any feedback is greatly appreciated.*

Following... I have a 72 k10 that I just installed a Boyd gas tank in the rear of the frame. I plan on using a sport rear bumper and buying a frame mounted receiver hitch. The big deal will be what bumper you have and how low the hitch needs to be to clear the bumper. Years ago I went to trailer company that also sold and installed hitches and told them that I wanted the lowest profile hitch I could get so the guy started bringing out receiver hitches and holding them up under the truck until we found one that fit perfectly. This was on a 95 GMC 4x4. Might have to do the same.

We installed a Hidden Hitch on our C20. Clears the rear tank and mounts/installs as it should.

Peppertree: I do not know the difference in the c20 and c10 frames if any. Will that same Hidden Hitch work on a 1970 GMC c15? By the way I like it. Been looking for hitch that would not ruin the look of the rear of the truck.

I installed a Boyd welding Fuel tank, and a CPP Hidden hitch on my truck.
No clearance or interference problems at all.
The one thing you need to pay attention too, is if the hitch bolts on the bottom or side of the frame. The ones that bolt on the bottom of the frame will interfere with the fuel tank. The style that bolt on the side of the frame, however, do not interfere with the fuel tank.

This is for a coil spring truck. Leaf spring trucks, the rear leaf spring hanger is in the way for a side mount hitch to mount to the frame.

As per the difference between a c10 and c20 frame, the 3/4 ton frames are the same shape, just made of thicker material.

i have a hitch that bolts to the bottom of the frame, I had to modify it (make cut outs) for the tank brackets where it bolts to the frame. I also had to weld 1/2" steel tube to it so it hung low enough to clear my sport bumper. I wouldn't feel super comfortable towing a heavy load with it but it is fine for hauling a vehicle on a tow dolly which is what I need it for. I'd go with the side of frame mounting style with the rear tank setup to avoid the above.

Picked up my Hidden Hitch at Brothers Truck Parts, I live pretty close. Our C20 has rear leafs like a GMC. The listing made no mention of a difference between C10 and C20. Hope this helps.

Suburbans have rear mounted gas tanks, and tow hitches. It can be a bit tight, but it as do able.

If you really want a hidden hitch you can make your own cheap enough.

Depending on how hidden you want it. You can make it pop out of the lincense plate area, and use a hitch plate holder. Inconvenient but can look slick.

Brothers Truck Parts. I live pretty close to them, saves on shipping. It was on sale at the time. It's a side fill tank, available from most of the different vendors.

I wonder if the same hitch would clear on a swb truck?
The frame rails are shorter back there than the lwb trucks.
