Re: Road trippin with too much stuff...
That’s not very encouraging Leon. I had to tell her the short bed K10 I got last year was for my kids when they get older.... at the time my kids were 5 and 3....
She’s pretty good most of the time, she doesn’t mind me parting out because she knows I’ll make some money and eventually each of those trucks disappear. I’ve been trying to convince her to let me get the Ochre K20 down the street. Haven’t been successful yet.

Re: Road trippin with too much stuff...
See, I can’t do that because then there will be the expectation that it will be leaving sooner rather than later.

But are they ever really complete? There is always something else you can do.

Re: Road trippin with too much stuff...
Stuck! In Iowa? No way...it's always sunny and 70 degrees. Dairy Queen is open at 11am if you need a blizzard, tornado season is is just a windy neighbor, the flood is gone as soon as everyone stops flushing the Casey's burritos, and you can see around every corner as soon as the corn is harvested...

Re: Road trippin with too much stuff...
From the beginning is much easier . I just bought a bed from heehawracing in GA . Misses was on the couch when I was talking with him on the phone . Her first words after I hung up was where are we going and when do we leave .

Re: Road trippin with too much stuff...
Trucks in that yard look better than a lot of ones for sale up here

Re: Road trippin with too much stuff...
So sad to see trucks in such bad shape. Looks like lots of donor parts, though.
My 69 has a power steering box, pump, and brackets that I pulled out of a junkyard 71 or 72 back around 1990. Both still work fine! Also a front sway bar, power brake booster & brackets, and gauges from a complete instrument cluster. Probably didn't pay more than $100 total, if that much, for all that stuff back then. I still remember jacking up the front of a donor truck with a bumper jack, and pushing old tires/wheels under the frame until it was high enough for me to crawl under the front. Had to use hammer and chisel to get the sway bar. Ah, youth!

Re: Road trippin with too much stuff...
Wow, it's amazing you can still find that many parts collections out there. That's definitely what keeps our hobby supplied with parts to keep our trucks on the road. Still, I kinda root for some of those in the pics to make it back on the road too!
Looks like another great road trip! Jim |
