55.2-59 Hood emblem gasket 56??

Im getting ready to bolt on my hood emblem. I have searched everywhere and cant find a gasket for a 56 emblem. Did they not use gaskets after 55??
Really having a hard time bolting it directly to my new paint. If nothing else I will use some 3M clear tape but would rather use a gasket. Any insight would be appreciated!

my 57 came sans emblem. I would check with an autobody supply shop and see if they have some thin gasket material, something that is a closed cell foam would be good because it doesn't sponge water. possibly some emblem tape? possibly some thin foam like used under a wall in a basement? possibly a thin cork sheet from a hobby shop or a cheap bulletin board? thn rubber sheet from a plumbing store or plastic supply outfit? some thin eva foam?

Looks like in the factory assembly manual there was none for the '55. Not sure for a '56 to '57. I don't recall one on my '57.

Even though my AD hood emblem came with a gasket, I chose not to use it. My reasoning was that it would trap moisture that could eventually produce rust.

i can't say i've ever seen a gasket on any trim

I believe I used nylon washers behind the emblem to help keep pressure off the paint. No gasket.
