Finally found the correct format for the photo. This is an all original truck that we will be considering selling very soon

Re: Need help with production number

Mainly trying to determine value biased off the original build and how rare this truck is. Its all original no rust paint is faded and the interior does show normal discoloration

Re: Need help with production number

I guess my last statement is not 100% true. We have a 383 built stoker motor current ln the truck. We do have the original Number matching motor on a stand that will go with the truck and another 350 also on a stand. The entire suspension has been gone through with new bushings all new break lines and breaks, new shock and springs, tires, everything to make it safe to drive. It is an amazing driver with 70K miles.

As a 70 C10 lwb, it's not rare - but, it is a nicely optioned truck (CST with Special Two Tone). If its original paint is just faded and its rust free - I'd submit it would be worth the most $ if it had the original engine re-installed and the paint buffed out (i.e. if you're trying to determine value because you're considering selling it). If it's your driver/keeper, then the 383 is a nice upgrade. While it is a minor selling point to offer the original engine to go with it, most buyers would very much prefer the engine to be in the truck. Do you have any pictures of the truck? - sounds like a nice one. You don't have to use a picture hosting site, you can attach files to your posts directly by clicking post reply and then simply clicking on the paper clip for attachments.

Original paint? The glove box door has been painted, no?

Re: Need help with production number

I agree with Jocko. The original engine installed makes the truck more appealing to a wider crowd.
In addition the majority of buyers won't have space or interest in the extra engine(s) so once the truck is sold without the original engine you will only have a core engine on your hands. Where if the original engine is installed and the new owner passes on the 383 you have a much more valuable engine to sell.
Having said this I am assuming the 383 is carbureted. There are buyers willing to pay more for fuel injection provided it is a nice, clean, well sorted out conversion.
Just my 2 cents worth of opinion.
And of course we'd love to see some pictures.

No belt on the AC compressor. Did it used to work? Depending on where you sell it, working AC can be a big plus.

Interesting, but admittedly I do not know the history of this truck. I just have never seen the glove box latch keeper painted. I've only seen em plated. And lower left spid looks like overspray. Might be reflection.

Regardless, its a good looking truck.

Re: Need help with production number

Good looking truck should sell pretty easy. But just my opinion if I was looking at it get the belt back on the AC and charge if it works. If it doesn’t work when I look at a car I assume the whole thing needs replaced. The paint looks good in the photos but as a buyer looking for original paint I see a few things that would make me question it. Are the markings still on the firewall make sure to include those in the photo and is under your hood black? It looks bronze in the photos. Just make sure to get the little details in the photos as the original paint guys will really know what they are looking for and will pick a truck apart wanting proof.

Re: Need help with production number

A/C is operational repairs have been made post photos . As far as the paint you do bring up some interesting questions. This has been in my family for some time my farther purchased the truck in the early 80's so there is defiantly the possibility its not all original paint.

By the way You guys are all great in the feed back by the way its is greatly appreciated.

Any idea what would be a roughly fair asking price for this truck

Thanks
Matt
