Re: Project Platinum C10

I think I'm going to take the lower control arms off and grind off that keeper the spring is sitting on. It's suppose to catch the end of the spring but if I put the end in the keeper it doesn't sit right in the upper bucket. Not sure what to do.

Making some progress. Don't let the little stuff bother you. If we didn't make some mistakes along the way and learn from them it wouldn't be nearly as rewarding when we finished.

The spacer leveled me out. Pulled the dimensions on both front tires and came out with the same dimension.

So just gonna leave the spacer? why not just trim the other spring a little to make it sit the same?

Well I could have done either one. Put the spacer to raise it 1/2" on the driver side or cut the spring on the passenger side to lower it 1/2". I would have rather cut the spring to lower it down but was scared I would cut to much off.

haha yep. I wasn't so worried about the 1/2" in the front as the tires I bought for the rear are a bit taller than the fronts. I would have liked the front to be a little lower than the rear to give me a little rake. I guess when I build me a nice big Ol' engine and drop it in it will lower it down some

Re: Project Platinum C10

Hey guys I thought I would share a couple pics of another project I got. 1971 Chevelle. I haven't done much to it in a while as I am trying to get my truck done first. Once I get my interior done in the truck I will start back on it.

Yeah it's a blue that we added a lot of pearl to. I still have some paint left over and I could probably pull the code from. I have a video of it running but I can't get it to load. Apparently the file is to big or something.

It's approx. 300 miles or so. Hey I am talking to DJM right now asking why the front end of my truck only dropped 3 1/2" and the rear only 4 1/4" They had me send some pics of the install to them and I also asked if they suggested the spacer or trimming a lowering spring. Waiting on answers now.

Hopefully one day when I have a nice shop to work in I can do an off frame restoration of the Chevelle. I got an email from DJM that suggested I rotate the spring to sit in the control arm stop and then loosen my rear leaf springs and drive it a couple miles and re tighten. Not sure how that can drop the front end but I'll try anything. It was good to me you to. I had you pictured as a short dude....lol. Man your truck is already super nice

Re: Project Platinum C10

I think most of us dream about a shop. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable driving a few miles with the leaf springs loosened but I'm no expert. I'm short by some people's standards just not most . Thanks. I had to start with something decent so the wife would stay some what supportive

Re: Project Platinum C10

So decided to try what the DJM guy said and these are my newest dimensions. Passenger front 15.5", driver front 16", driver rear 14.75" & passenger rear 14". It's worse than before. I'm going to take the spacer out the driver front and see if that will make a difference.

I'm hoping I get it fixed before I drop it off to paint. I don't want to be working on it after paint, I want to be driving it.

Re: Project Platinum C10

Picked out a couple more colors for paint. I'm thinking maybe Space Gray on top and Silverstone Metallic on bottom. What you guys think?

Re: Project Platinum C10

Seems to me like it would look sharp, but I would have to see a sketch of the truck with the 2 colors.

Cleaver come back my friend! yeah painting decisions are hard I'm already trying to plan my paint job and I'm still tweaking ideas about it so don't feel bad, go with what sticks out the most and do it!
