Here's some pics of the new passenger side battery mount that Keven fab'd up today - think it turned out better than the one on the driver's side even!!! Blends in nice to the air box as well.

And here's a shot of Trevor "cheesing" above the new air box/battery box... Also a good shot of Keven welding on the air box.

Thanks man! I just gave them what I was envisioning in my head - Keven made it a reality & exceeded what I thought I would get out of it!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Here's some shots of the initial fabrication of the custom front push bar assembly. The blocks under the Xmitter LED light & the square box on top of the jack aren't a part of this - they're just for mock-up. The tubing that goes through the side plates will be trimmed down to about a 1/2" & capped off. The side plates will be re-cut in 3/8" plate for more strength as well. Still a bit to go, so keep a look out for more pics!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

So excited!!! I finally located a company that specializes in billet fabrication & is willing to make me a set of "one-off" billet hood hinges! SCORE
Was thumbing through the newest Street Truck magazine & came across an article about a company called Greening Auto Company. I emailed one of the owners - Jesse - and he replied eager to see what they could do!
I notified the shop to ship out the old factory hood hinges to them so they can work up a computer model of it for approval. They said they could build it much like the ones from Ring Brothers versions.
Excited to see what they come up with & will try to get a pic of it on here as soon as I get it!!!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Not 100% sure really... Judging by the pricing I see online for other companies products already developed & being produced I'd say somewhere in the neighborhood of $800-1,000.00 at least given that they will have to develop a program for the CNC & all... Sure that if it were to become something they produce though the cost would come down a lot. Will let you know once they provide me an estimate after they get my old hinges in & do what they've gotta do.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Kinda have no choice if I want billet hinges than to go this route as there just isn't anyone out there making them for the 73-80 GM trucks - only the 67-72's for whatever reason... And I really can't see putting all this work & expense in to just have some crappy stock steel hinges sitting there - even if they were painted or whatever...

Wow, thats a lot, I really like bullet stuff to, but its expensive. Why do you want billet hinges? its not like your going to see them a lot anyways.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Well, like I said - I really hate the look of the stock steel hinges & am doing a lot under the hood to improve the overall appearance, so they would look "out of place" really... And the hinges will be seen quite a bit actually as this truck will see quite a few major shows before it becomes a daily driver down the line & with any luck I might make it in some magazines - who knows!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

Trying to... You guys get 'em almost as soon as I do I assure you! Believe me, the build plan did NOT start out this in-depth, but I have a very bad case of "well, why I am at it" & since we are angling towards entering it into quite a few shows I've somewhat "upped the anti" so-to-speak...

Ok, not too many pics this week of anything "new". Here's a clearer shot of the passenger side battery mount with the mock-up battery in there.

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

And here's a couple that show the intake tube a little clearer as well. It still needs to be fully tig welded & smoothed. Man they need to get that ugly master cylinder out of there ASAP.... That power steering reservoir sure looks killer on there! Mario is going to paint the steering gear box & shaft while he's doing all the stuff in the engine bay, so it'll all end up looking really nice in there so when the hoods open at shows & stuff I can be proud of it!

Re: 1977 Chevy K30 Crew Cab Build

I didn't get any news on it, but the front push bar wasn't sitting mocked-up on the front of the truck anymore, so Keven must have it off getting it welded up & finalized. We had yet another set-back with the bed tool box... This is the 3rd Delta Pro box we got in from Pickup Specialties & all were dented in one way or another.... They are sending a replacement after a mess of phone calls & *****ing, so maybe this one will be good!!!
Need to have it all mocked-up (along with spare tire mount) so they can get the bed shipped off to Mario to start on it (along with the cowl hood & front grille assembly), so hoping that happens in the next week or so. Ready to see some body work already... Keep checking back!

Good to hear you found a source for the hinges. That will be another nice touch under the hood!
