Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Seagypsy, that is a sweet looking truck. Get rid of that chrome before the crap behind it starts to rust you out...

I rescued a 1993 sport truck from the scrapper. It's not restored or changed one bit since that day except windshield removal and beginnings of rust repair on the roof panel which at the time was over 450 wholesale via an account from gm dealer. Regardless it's a black 93 Chevy stepside. Interesting enough it has sealed beams with a painted to match gloss black 90-93 w/t grille, a painted to match air intake bumper (diesel) but has factory fog lamps no moldings anywhere a strange tailgate decal and a red Silverado YE9 split bench interior. 4.3, aluminum wheels. I'll take pics soon. It is an unmolested, strangely optioned, but old and rusted truck. Pics soon.

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Just bought this one yesterday. This is the rarest of all of the Sport and 454 SS models they made. It is a white sport, 350 with a 5 speed. Picked it up for $2300 just outside of Fort Campbell, KY. I have been obsessed with these trucks for 20 years and been looking for one of these specifically for at least the last 10. It may never be worth a whole lot of money but its just what I have always wanted with it being the rarest one. It needs some love but it will get it here. The first picture was before I gave it a bath the second was after.

Mirrison 77,
Way to go. Looks like a promising project. Which year is it?

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Its a 1991, been doing a little evaluating this morning its got an oil leak, i'll probably replace the bed on it, raise it back up about 2 inches all the way around, put a new bumper, air dam and fog lights back on the front, put the rear bumper back on the rear, then have it painted back to the original paint job and all the original black with the red stripes trim. I do want to change to the 94 gloss black grille in it and the blacked out headlights. Not sure what I am going to do about tail lights or wheels yet. I always said if I got one of these trucks I would put the solid 15x10 with white letter 295/50/15s on it to kind of give it that 100 mph sitting still look. Idk we will see over the next few years.

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Nice find. I remember once when I was in high school cruising the local drag, I saw a white Sport 350/5-speed with a 4/6 drop. I think that was the truck that subconsciously planted the seed for my love of dropped trucks.
Personally, if I ever had a Sport, I would stick with the stock chrome wheels. They are really hard to beat on these trucks. It would be really cool to have a couple of them widened to 10" to stuff under the rear. |

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
I like the factory wheels too I just wish they were wider like you said. I think mine has a 4/6 drop on it as well. I causes a lot of wheel hop when you really get into it and the tires spin, I think the 2/4 I am going to end up with. I like the clean look of the 4/6 when they are finished, but I plan on dropping a 383 Stroker in this truck mated up to the 5 speed and I don't want the wheel hop as it is coming out of the spin. It is horrid!

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
No you don't need to use that portion of the air intake. You'll just be pulling in warmer air into the intake, but that is not a big deal.

Re: Chevy Sport Truck questions
Took a few weeks but finally landed a '92 Chevy Sport Truck. It's got 129k miles, 350 mated to a 5 speed, the BYP RPO code and is in pretty good shape. Mostly stock other than a flowmaster in place of the stock muffler. The sport truck stickers don't seem to have made it to this point. A few dents and dings here and there but a solid truck overall. Truck runs out really well. Must be the 3.42 gear. Anyway, I've got to hunt down a tailgate for it since it didn't quite make the POs collision with a garage door at some point in its life. The truck could use a good buff job as well.
That said, here are the pics.
