Your cam sounded AWESOME and the truck looks great.

I brought my truck but got around too late for any kind of good parking spot so we just walked around and looked.
That's funny! I remember you all too. Sorry we were scrambling. Didn't expect the judging that soon. Thought we had another hour or so.

Thanks for the compliments. We love the sound!!

I printed the pics of your engine compartment so I can try to emulate it, at least to some degree. The only thing I'd knick you for on judging is the holes in the roof ceiling for the mirror that is now on the windshield. Definitely one of the nicest trucks on the board.

Looked back and found it. Was that a new rod from the brake pedal to booster? If so, remember where from? Did the brakes work good? Someone questioned it because they had problems with their set up. Was the pedal arm re-drilled for a new position for the push rod?
Yeah, the mirror on the glass was a last minute change so we didn't get them filled when body work was done. We have a mock up of a pocket holder we will be building to go up there and will hopefully be in the truck before the next show. We also still need kick panels but haven't been able to find what we want. Keep hoping to run into someone with experience building speaker boxes so we can hire them to build us some custom kick panels to cover the vent holes as well.

The push rod came with the booster. We did have to drill some different holes in the brake pedal arm to allow the booster rod to line up properly with the arm. It's pretty straight forward though once you get the rod through the firewall. Let me know if you need any help as you get to that step.

And thanks for the awesome compliments! We sure like it!

Hey, can you or anyone on here help? I am trying to figure out the washer / rubber sequence in mounting my core support. Do you know a source where I can find the right sequence? I ordered the hardware for a 68 so that's correct, but what goes where? there are 3 thick steel washers and 2 slightly thicker rubber bushings (a little over 1/4 inch).

Thanks so much for any help!
David
Thanks, David. I would have said something about it, but we didn't think we were going to go because of the forecast. When we saw it was going to be nice for the morning, we decided last minute to show up.

I pulled out my instructions from my bushing set and here is what it says:

1. Core Support
2. Washer (2.5" x 7/16" x 1/8")
3. Sleeve
4. Top Bushing
5. Frame
6. Lower Bushing
7 Washer (2" x 7/16" x 1/8")

Let me know if you need more details.

Congrats Eric...the truck looks beautiful...maybe someday I will get there. Any issues with mounting the booster flush to the firewall and what about just running one line to the front brakes of the ppv?
Again GREAT TRUCK!

Thanks, Eric! Booster mount wasn't bad. Had to cut a little out of firewall to make it fit right, but there is lots of info on the board for that. Also had to redrill the brake pedal arm to properly align the rod, but again not very difficult. I'm not sure what you mean about the one line out of prop valve as I'm only aware of one line coming out of them for front brakes and one for back brakes. In other words, I probably just misunderstood your question. I can tell you we ran stock line sizes to front and back. They are stainless steel lines.

Eric, thanks for getting back to me man...I tried the whole brake booster thing and my brakes would not hold pressure no matter how much I bleed the brakes, so unfortunately I had to go back to the stock style...the brake line question I had, was the ppv has three outlets on it, two for the front and one for the rear...i initially ran three lines from the ppv down to the steel braided lines, but did not like the way it was done, so i ma in the precess of running all new lines...I've seen on other threads people just running one line to the fron brakes off the ppv to a T-fitting...just wasn't sure is that is good enough or do I have to run seperate lines from the ppv to each brake caliper in front. Sorry for going on and on, but that was my question...
Again, love your truck

Eric.

Thanks a lot, gopokes! Love the username by the way. I graduated from OSU in 99. Here is a link to the seller of the bed cover: http://myworld.ebay.com/srolison/

Price is very reasonable and I had no issues getting the cover from them. It does require complete assembly. Took me a few hours. Wasn't too difficult.

No problem! That's interesting about the two vs one line. I would assume this would be based on the design of the prop valve and not something you can just choose to do or not do, but I'm definitely not an expert. I just know my stock style prop valve is set up to run one line down to a 't' for front brakes. This is how it was stock, is my understanding.

Our pedal is definitely softer than it was before, but I'm also running a dual diaphragm booster now and wasn't before. It still stops on a dime. Also, when redrilling in the brake pedal arm, the geometry is changed slightly which effects the pedal feel and travel before the booster engages the master cylinder piston. This also effects the overall feel and pedal travel. I've seen where others have made custom brackets for the pedal arm to utilize stock hole, but we wanted to keep it as simple as possible (and we can't weld).

I have a CPP PPV as yours, and I think I will run just one line to the front brakes to a "T".
Thanks for your help man.

Yeah, I hear ya. It wasn't ours either at first, but they grow on ya. Was originally a quick fix until we could afford some Bonspeeds or Boyds, but right now, it works for us and we'll be leaving them on. Thanks for the compliment though, Bradley!
