Correct PCV Valve picture please?

Thanks TJ, I just went ahead and ordered a universal Mr Gasket set, #6376. The inner diameter of the PCV grommet is ~50% larger than the one I have, but maybe the reason mine didn't fit flush was because a previous owner put in the wrong size grommet.

Will report back if this one works out for me for both the PCV grommet as well as the valve cover breather seal.

Well this Mr Gasket set appears to be wrong. The breather grommet is actually a plug. Unless I'm supposed to cut the end of it off myself for my application. Also need to check fitment when I get home tonight.

Fitment seems fine. Popped my valve cover off to clean it and paint it, and just realized I gotta let it cure for a week before I can apply another coat according to the instructions on the can. That's a bummer. Once it cures, is painted again, and cures again, I'll assemble everything. I think it will work if I cut the end off of the breather grommet plug.

Will do, TJ. What did you do for hold downs for your valve cover? Half mine were missing and replaced w/ washers. I went with these from amazon for about $12. Not sure they are exactly the same as original but they appear to be close. Haven't decided if I'm going to paint them red like the valve cover.

Well, crud. I re-read the can (Duplicolor DE1632 which is supposed to be a good match for GMC engine red) and it said nothing about a 7 day curing time. So I figured, what the hell, its been about 24 hrs, lets try to do another coat.

A few spots of paint immediately wrinkled.

Hoping I can get away with sanding just those spots and hitting them again, rather than stripping the whole thing and starting from bare metal.

I'm using a different valve cover so I don't actually need those. The duplicolor paint you want is the Engine paint or their acrylic enamel. I've used both on my engines and only had to wait 10 minutes between coats.

Yes, this is their engine paint. I did 3 coats, each within 10 minutes of each other. But when I checked it in the morning it needed more paint. Since the can didn't specify curing time of 1 week like others posted elsewhere I thought maybe it was fine after 1 day. Nope.

That's crazy man, I used their engine paint and clear and all parts were dry within the hour. Cure took some time....but spraying on top I never have had an issue with.

I think my problem was that I sprayed it a little cold and possibly a little dirty. Second coat today went on pretty well. I could sand it and repaint for a nicer finish but I think I'm going to call it good.

In case anyone else was considering these hold-downs and bolts, I can't recommend them. My order arrived today, and the hold-downs did not match the picture. Furthermore, no bolts were included in the package.

I decided to keep them anyway, and Amazon customer service refunded me $6. At the end of the day I got decent looking hold downs for about $6, which is not so bad. Now I need to go find some new bolts at the hardware store.

Well whatever size I got last time was the wrong damn size for PCV valve. Like an idiot I tried forcing it into place w/ a screwdriver and proceeded to scratch the crap out of my freshly painted valve cover. Oh well, one more coat of paint won't hurt.

I believe the proper size is 3/4" ID 1" OD. That's what I'm trying next at least.
