Got the cab mounted for the last time. Throttle cable and steering are all done. Truck is driveable! Been going to town on finishing the body work on the cab and front end, and trying to get cab and front end painted in the next few weeks.

Dads got his motor/tranny in and mounted his cab as well. Still got a few holes to fill on his firewall before paint but the rest of his cab is ready. Still waiting on brake/fuel lines and fuel tank to finish his frame. Sorry no pics of dads at this point but I will get some more tonight.

What throttle/length cable did you use? It looks like a Lokar.

It is a lokar but I dont know what length it is. I bought it from street and performance specifically for an LS1.

OK... I did some mockup on the front fenders and hood. The hood will not go all the way down in the back. With all the hinges as low as they will go the hood is still like 1 1/2" above the cowl?? Any ideas?? You can push it down on the back but it wont stay...?

Are your springs hooked up when you close your hood? If the tabs on your hood are out of alignment, they will not allow the hood to close properly.

We are currently finalizing the fit of my hood and fenders, but we are concentrating on the fit of the side of the hood to the front of the cab. We are also adjusting the fender to the hood as well. The body shop was having fits but after talking with a street rod builder friend of mine that built one of these trucks he gave us some pointers. Mine fits flush across the top of the cowl.

Is your hood in paint?

i had to pie cut my hood to fit. the did however bend out the tops of the hinges to help. you might try that as well

Check out this link to basic alignment instructions. You should start with the hood, then align the fenders to the hood and cowl. Sounds like your hinges may be sprung Or not closing right.

Thanks for the info on the hood guys. Stilll working to get it right, but it is much closer. Not too much progress to report, as dad and I have been sick the last week and didnt have much energy. I did manage to start assembling my bed and started to raise the bed floor. I cut down another rear cross sill and welded it to the lower one to raise the floor. It wont be welded to the bedsides so I fit it really well so that the bed can still be bolted together. I also got the fenders coated inside with truck bed coating. Most of the truck is together to finish up my mockup and get ready to go to the shop and finish the body work and paint! Waiting on the wider runningboards to match my wider rear fenders. Also been working on cleaning up the gaps on the doors. That has been very tedeious but they are starting to look pretty nice.

Some more pics of deflated and ride height. Man it is time to clean the garage!

Update on Dads:

Got dads motor/tranny in and had the rebuilt the tranny crossmember since the PO didnt measure right. We also got his brake lines done and the rear air bag setup finished. The PO also welded up the runningboard brackets holes, so we will have to redrill those

. Also dad marked all holes he wants to fill on his firewall... gotta love these trucks! Swiss cheese! Dad also got a nice aluminum driveshaft out of something that just happens to be the right length.

Your truck and mine look very similar at this point. I went the route of a LT1. I like the looks of a LS1 better.

We have had sucess fitting my hood and I might have something that you can try if the sides of you hood and the top across the cowl still dont fit that great. I took some suggestions from a street rod builder friend of mine, and it made a world of difference in my hood.

What size rims are you running? (18/20) I answered my own question 18 x 20 from your first post. What are the tire sizes?

Hey Marc!

Yeah, The LS motors are just unreal. It is amazing what these motors do with very simple mods. Send me a pm with the hood info, that would be great. I havent seen any updates on your truck in a while?

Your right they are 18/20 and I almost wih I would have gone 20/20, but this will give a little different look. The I can remember the front size right now, but it is 26.5" tall. The rears are 285/30/20.

Slim,

They are fiberglass and they are 2.5" wider than stock. I wanted to fit my larger tires (285/30/20) completely under the fender and not have to build tubs in the bed. I am waiting on my runningboards which are also wider and match to fit these fenders. They are both made by www.superiorglassworks.com here in oregon.

I noticed you had your battery tray mounted on the side of your frame and have seen others do the same. I am also going to do the same and was wondering where I can get that battery tray from. Is it stainless?

I used the same drop down battery box. It is SS.

do me a favor and measure the running boards for me, I wanted to order a set from them but all they could do was send a pic no measurments. my fenders are from verdine performance and are 3" wider. just want to know if they will work for me
