Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation

Thanks, I sure liked the way they looked. I'm doing a hot rod black truck so I hope they work out good. Now I just get to make them work. Well I've been pushed back on the dyno again. It's not a big deal right now cause i'm stuck at work in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico. So he will dyno it friday and send me the results. As soon as I know something i'll post it. CPP finally got my axle perches, bilstein shocks and lowering blocks w/u-bolts to me. I'll be ready to mock up the engine, trans and rear-end when I get home so I can finish the frame, driveshaft and exhaust. FUN FUN FUN!!!! I really do like it.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation

Well maybe today on the dyno. The engine builder got it on the dyno friday and had something come up. I'm not in a big rush just excited.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation

They average around 650-700. It is a stand alone unit. It comes with everything you need except the throttle possition sensor for a carb. I have fast injection so I have no need to buy another one.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation

Looking good! Can't wait to see this one through... I debated on getting wheels with the darker centers but since I'm painting my truck black I went ahead with some polished aluminum. super jealous on the calipers/rotors, wish I could have swung them for mine.. maybe later on down the road. Keep the progress coming!

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation

Thanks. Time sure is dragging on this drilling rig. I get home in a week but then I have a meeting in Alabama so i'm bummed out on that. I will be working on it hot and heavy though when I can. Thanks again for the encouragement.

Well the little 408 made 496 Hp @5600 rpm. Should be a great street motor. When I get the sheet i'll post it.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation

Well I talked with engine builder. He said my torque curve was table top flat from 4200-5600 @ 479 ft/lbs. It made 496 hp @5600 had good smooth idle and made good vacuum.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation

Well got back to work on the truck today finally. I cleaned the bed up and worked on straightening the floor in it. I got the new tailgate out and looked it over. I'll pick the engine up and put it in the frame on wed. I still need to work on the drivers side cab corner, rocker and floor pan. Then i'll clean everything up in the cab and paint it.

Here's the dyno cover sheet and a picture of the engine. Tomorrow I install the rear end and the engine/tranny to the frame. Then the drive shaft.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation

Some more pictures of the trucks progress. Working late and found a bunch of horrible body work on the bed. Some people just don't need to be body men. I'm no pro but crap some of the stuff I have seen on this build. I didn't take pictures of the hacked out hole in the side of the bed but wow the patch panel was just tacked in and they used bondo to seal it up. The panel was a jagged 6" circle to cover a 3" hole. Got the rear end smoothed up and ready to install on the trailing arms.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation

Well I got the rear end in place and loose. The engine is mocked up on the bare frame and I have the accessory drive on the front of the engine. I have the left header on and need to install the right side. I have a question though about the performance online motor mounts. Should they be in the front or back holes? I'm thinking the back holes. I'll try to get the fuel injection and starter in place as well as the fuel tank. Need to get the drive shaft made also.

Re: 71 Chevy LWB Transformation

Well I got the core support, cowl and the inner fenders painted today. Still working on the cab in between times. I need to mock up the a/c and cut holes for it, cut the hole for the stereo. Hope to be painting the cab by this weekend. All I lack is finishing!!!
