Re: Kill Switch Ideas
^ LoL, buy a watch.. trusting a clock in any vehicle is risky at best..
and I've owned a couple of cars/trucks without radios that played beautiful v8 music

Re: Kill Switch Ideas
This car is more like an angry, flame spitting, whistling sewing machine with roid rage haha. Same idea though.

Re: Kill Switch Ideas
I just bought a replacement clock for my dash. Had never seen an old Chevy truck with a working clock , so I thought it would be nice to have.
What about the "big purple wire under the steering column" mentioned in post 2? Seems like a good idea.

Re: Kill Switch Ideas
If you do a search on here there is a post where the kill was hidden in the cigarette lighter. I really liked that idea. It doesn't get much more discreet than that!

Re: Kill Switch Ideas
My Obama bumper sticker has kept mine safe for almost a decade. I guess I need to update it to Hillary 2020.

Does this use GSM, HSPA, or Big Red's 3G CDMA or LTE to connect to a mobile data network? The reason I ask is... GSM is slated for retirement over the next few years or so... as is the older 3G CDMA equipment Big Red deployed around 15 years ago.

Re: Kill Switch Ideas
hmm, I think glove boxes may be a common target for break in and easy pry access but still better than out in the open..

Re: Kill Switch Ideas
For something to slow down a thief, I used one of these.
http://www.turbokill.com/-rfid-model.html I was able to install the sensor on the bottom side of the dash pad out of sight, but easy to reach. You have to pass an rfid tag/fob across the sensor to enable the starting circuit. It picks up the signal right through the dash. Make sure that your truck is running well enough that its not dying in traffic before you hook one of these up!

I'll have to forward that question to my tech rep. However, we have been installing these on many trucking/wrecker fleets, and I'm pretty sure that they are ahead of the game when it comes to data networks. Bubba |

Re: Kill Switch Ideas
i have buckets in my 86, i keep the kill switch kinda down to the right where the seat belt is so you cant see it or the wires going through the floor. i always been a fan of disabling the distributor that way it cranks but wont start so whoever is trying to steal it just thinks its a pos and moves on
