Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Well Tuesday I got new to me 67 fenders doors and if all goes right than later this spring I will have an entire bed, yesterday I was working and all I could do was make sure I still had everything under the hood, and today I painted the horn button from black to white to match the current blue and white paint theme on the truck. It's not the greatest paint job in the world but I can take pride in knowing I did it myself. Now I have to find a certain paint code for 70's chrome yellow imron, because I have an idea of what I want this truck to look like when I'm done with it and they don't make good imron anymore. So now I'm looking at other paints and still need this paint code. Will ask the people I know at the fire department that have there apparatus the same color. They should know.

I used a needle to redo mine black. That Emron paint is bad stuff, I got real sick after spraying a boat.

looks good. and yeah imron is bad stuff, but it lasts damn near forever. I don't need industrial paint on a pickup truck though. that's why I am just looking for the paint (color?) code, I've always loved the look of chrome yellow but most people who make it now it doesn't look quite right. so I need to ask the fire department what the color code is that they recently used to repaint their hahn. Its spot on to what the old paint that's on their old mini pumper looks like.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Got my procar seats and mounting bracket installed. Had to shorten the procar frame 3 inches. And also modified the Console. Took 3 inches off the bottom of that also. And installed a plywood floor in it. So it would clear the shifter. Need to get some new dash noobs now. And seat belts. Is there any end to the incredible shrinking wallet. LOL.

Installed my c notch kit. Never want to see a rivet again. They are a pain in the rear frame! I can now get my blocks to get to 7 in the rear.

We put on a new brake booster and new master both were bad. Got everything bled out and was able to drive it today first time since we bought truck 3 years ago. Yeah!!! Rebuilt the original 402, tranny, now new booster. And master. Runs great. Drives pretty fair also. Now today inner fenders going back on.

Picked up a new (used) grille and headlight bezels on Craigslist. Slowly getting where I want it. I already had the chrome headlight bezels but these are in better shape so I grabbed them too.

All of ours are mostly sitting rotting away a bit, what isn't, even a new truck 2 days later, to bad, sad it's gone, maybe you will miss it enough in time to get another and enjoy life the odd drive at a time, gotta have a hobby.

Well your alright then, you like me can only have so many, which in my case is one, I do see your point on sitting, I have sold projects because someone else has more time and $ and willing to build projects I have that sit, hope your truck has a good home.

Pulled the doors off. One is in great shape, the other, not so much. I should have covered that speaker hole years ago..

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Gave the truck a 4.5 inch lift. These are awesome to help me move the truck out of the way when not working on it. And I got them for a great deal on CL. $50 for all 4 at 1500lb capacity each.
I also got in a gang of parts to reseal the rear end, axles, wheel cylinders, and new breaks all around. And everything I needed to put the motor back together. Once I get the transmission all rebuilt it will be ready to put together. It will be able to go and stop

Media Blasted parts..and being that I'm brand new to the "rebuilt" life...I have no idea what I blasted...Ok. Some of the parts I know but here are the ones that I don't know.

I bought this truck.."from a guy..who took it all apart..without a plan..so I bought the truck" now I have to develop a plan. I've gone through Owners workshop manual and several parts catalogues..can't find these as they've been updated in design, I suspect.

A is the exhaust manifold side of an AC bracket.
B is the other side of AC bracket, water pump side.
C, not sure, maybe an alternator bracket.
D, Some after market exhaust bracket
E, part of the automatic shifter mechanism.

I would start a new thread for this type of stuff. You will have many more questions. Good luck with your restoration.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I put new internals in my Edelbrock 1406, and gave it a good exterior cleaning. It has always ran pretty rich, though well. Not knowing exactly what the previous owner did, (I know his nephew or something tweaked it) I went back with stock metering rods, springs and jets - primary and secondary to start fresh. Also found that the floats were maladjusted - set too high, so now that's all at the recommended level. Also new gaskets and other parts. Looking forward to bolting it back up this week one evening.
