Hey cal58 your truck is looking really nice and I can't wait to see you light up those tires around town. I've been following the progress of your build and I know your thread will help me in my project.

Hey cal58 I used to live right behind CHS and then off of Minnewawa and Ashlan, but I just moved out by valley childrens hospital. You might have seen me around in a bright orange 82 blazer or my blue 77 suburban. But I still work in Clovis.

Heck, that's still not far. When I'm done and you see my truck at a local car show, come up and say hi.

Re: 58 GMC Project

you could take the door off cut the hole in the carpet and mount the door over the carpet its nice enough to see it on top of the carpet and eazier to reach too

Nice clean work you are doing.
I asked about the CPP Tranny crossmember....I am in the process of installing my crossmember and I am having clearance problems. maybe because I am doing it wrong! Did yours install in front of the power booster bracket? And is the inside of the L shape bracket that goes to the frame resting on the inside of the lower frame rail or the outside?
Thanks and keep on trucking.

I had problems also with clearing the brake booster bracket. The crossmember is seating in front of the booster bracket with the L shape crossmember bracket mounted to the bottom of the frame. I had to use spacers I made for clearance. If you noticed in the picture I took for you, the crossmember is also turned around with the transmission mount facing towards the rear.
