What booster and crossmember set up did you use? I used TCI's power booster kit and CCP's crossmember.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Project update: I just finished moving the front bumber in closer. When I first put it on, it was out about 3 inch. I cut off about 2 inchs off the front of the frame and re-drilled the holes. The top photo is after and the bottom is before.

Hey CAL, the truck's lookin' really good! Can't wait to see this beast driving around Clovis sometime.

I went ahead and started a build thread....I don't have many pics up, as I've lost alot of my pics, so I'm a little bummed. Let me know what you think.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Awesome truck I cant wait until I am at that point. I just have a question about the blazer rear end. I am definetly going to go that route but those brakes were ABS right? Does that mess with anything because you dont have them hooked up or does that go away because of the new calipers you ordered? Also I called a local junk yard here in Idaho and they wanted 750 for the rear end I still need to shop around but does that sound right? It seems a little high to me.

Thanks samcrf450! There were no sensors hook ups at all on the rear for ABS. The price is about right. That was the same price I found at some of our local yards. I paid $290 off of e-bay for mine but it was trash and I had to rebuild everything, so $750is about right. Also just a heads up, the 4 wheel drive rears are wider then the 2 wheel drive. I used the 2 wheel drive and if I had to do it over again I would have went with the 4 wheel drive since I ended up have to use wheel spacers anyway and without lowering blocks the calipers on the inside will hit the springs.

Re: 58 GMC Project

Thanks for that info. I am going to use TCIs 4 link will that still work fine. My local hot rod shop said that is the best way to go. The junk yard qouted me 750 for a used one that is not even rebuilt. I think that is a rip off. There is a place in florida that is selling every kind of s-10 rearend from 350 all the way to 1100 for posi ones.but it costs anywhere from 100 -300 to ship it here to idaho.
Also how was your brake booster and trans x-member not working together?what was hitting. I have the cpp x-member and I am going to use the cpp brake booster. They say it should work just fine. But my tranny sits a lot higher than yours because I have the mustang II crossmember. I have th x-member sitting on top of the bottom frame rail with a 1" spacer between the x-member mounting point and the rubber tranny mount.
Thanks alot for all the help.

I'm learning patience this week. Paul is out of town this week, so nothing else is getting done. I may be buying some exterior rear view mirrors soon(against my will). http://www.est1946.com/index.asp?Pag...ROD&ProdID=124
Anyone know if they are mandatory if you have an interior rear view mirror?

Re: 58 GMC Project

I think the rule is you have to have 2 mirriors, be it 1 outside 1 in 2 outside etc. Not sure thats just what my father who was a cop tells me.

Just my $.02 have you checked out this place? It is a site that links inventories of yards across the nation. You may find something within a few hours of your place. http://car-part.com
