Re: Project '86

Next best thing to actually getting some work done is getting an idea of where all this is heading...

Re: Project '86

dude that was the best 2 hours i have spent out here yet. great build. great skill. great truck. just blowin my mind at every turn. keep up the good work.

[QUOTE=Chlsnk;3725228]I think you will be very pleased if you try it. I talked with my uncle (bodyman 35+ years) And asked him about what to do about glass in a chopped car and he said score the front windsheild and burn it at the line you scored (not quite sure what he ment by this).

didn't see anything about you getting the new front windshield. get it yet? when you tried to cut it yourself how big of a section off the top did you try at a time? and what his uncle was talking about was putting a little bit of lighter fluid in the score and lighting it to melt the lamininate inside so it would snap. cutting windshield glass is kinda a hobby of mine. gotta do something to make up for the fact i can't fab like you guys!

Re: Project '86

Do you have any hi res images of how you mounted the R&P in ? If a truck wasn't that lowered, would you have to notch the frame for the rack?

Awesome fab work BTW.....

Re: Project '86

I haven't mounted the rack yet. I think you would have to notch the frame either way but I am not certain.

Re: Project '86

Small update today, did a little mud work on passenger door and cut down the frame on the wing window so that it would fit again.

Re: Project '86

Gave up on body work for now and went ahead and got my rack mounted. It's just temporarily mounted for now so that when I move it around I don't have to fight the wheels and can actually steer the thing. Hope to squeeze in enough time tomorrow to connect the steering shaft.

After a little bit of grinding it fits. It's close but it fits.

Re: Project '86

It looks really good. But are you sure it won't get in the way of the engine mount? Looks like it's going to be close. Your truck is coming along really nice.

Re: Project '86

I'm not sure at all. Once I get the motor in I will know for sure. But for now it will be a ton easier when I need to move it around.

No goal really. My first kid is due in about two weeks so right now I am going to get it in primer again and then it will be down for a while.
