No I am in no hurry at all on my junk here. I was just razzing you about that cluster and deep deep deep evil desire to have one in my truck.

So how's it feel to be cruising around now, been a few weeks. Got the feel for the land barge yet? In my 05 CC, I never look for parking spots that are close, but rather spots that I can make an easy exit from!

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

Cool,
thanks
I'll get up there as soon as I can.

I love driving this thing, it is kinda long. Some times parking means backing up and adjusting postion. It's really weird to drive the wife's Element then getting in the crew. The Element is like a zero-turn compared to my truck

And, as I was reminded last night after an incident, no matter how good you take care of your truck, it seems someone else will always be there to mess it up for you. My poor body man got boned last night after work. He bought this truck new in 01, has little over 70k on it, and he's babied it all it's life. Despite racing a dirt track car, he is a grandpa on the roads.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

The other driver was from Texas (their stop signs must look different down there), that's all I really heard about it. My guy is hurt, so I'm not sure how long he was really at the scene. All I heard was the guy ran a stop sign, boned him, he went up and over the other guys car, got airborne, hit a car on the shoulder that was broke down and then ended up in about a 6' ravine about 20' off the roadway. At least it stayed shiny side up, always a bonus. The 3rd member is holding on by the brake lines more or less, gas tank is ruptured. Was a helluva ride it looks.

Joe, I am so anxious to see your truck all one color, even if primer! It is just starting to scream awesomeness for the square generation. I've decided to do drive train before more body/paint work. Maybe I should throw the gauntlet down as motivation.

Joe amen on the parking deal. I have to worry about having room to get in the spot with mine, plus whether I pulled too far forward and my valence is going to hang on a parking block.

Re: My Crew Cab Short Bed Project, AKA "Project Destiny"

That wreck sucks but now you can pull the engine and put it in a Square!!!!

There is No such thing as a close or easy parking spot in a big truck. You've got it easy, Mine is 2ft longer and 2dually tires wider. The 1/2suspension turns a lot better then my 1ton. (Sounds like I'm trying to convince myself to make a CCSB)

That's what my shop helpers said too! He wants it for his '79. Reality is though, it will be sent to auction by the insurance company and sold as salvage, then we'd have to buy the parts we wanted. When you retain salvage in a deal like this, it is usually not worth it unless it is just a minor thing on a $1000 vehicle. Start talking about an $8000 vehicle, and they'll charge you back $2000 from the settlement if you want to keep the vehicle. Would be a decent challenge to break even on that buy back amount unless you had a serious use for it.

Ouch man that sucks!!

I need money right now more than motivation
I was thinking of doing black and gray primer for now, black below the body line and gray above......I may just end up rattle canning the blue stuff to match the other gray

if it has a 6.0 in it it would be well worth the $2000 price tag to get everything
