Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
yup, topless is nice....heh heh...
well, on the hugen hour thing at work again, been slow on the blaze... my even out the door/quarter panel plan does'nt really pan out. the fenders look good lined up with the doors, but the tailgate looks reeeeal goofy raised up to match, so scratch that. decided to try make the top work, figured i would'nt glue the rollbar in so i could go either way, top on or off. started by fixin & straitening out the bedrails & replacing the missing corner of the door |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
.....then the topper.........................
started by just trying to flex it back into place, did'nt really do much.... so, my wife's skinny pigs cage is in my model room, perfect! put it in front of their heater....looks ok except for that weird crease by the door pillar 90 degree.... oh yeah, this is nice..... so for now she's going topless, if i get the gumption later on, i'll have another whack at it... was kind of a drag, lost a little wind out of the sails, so...... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
....the postie come to my house today!
just took a quick break off the blazer to play with the humvee i bought at china mart the other week...and the swampers the mailman dropped off. just a snapper, but i think i can detail it up. i love H1 hummers, just too cool! here it is dry fitted, box stock, minus the roof mounted rocket launcher plan is to de-militarize it. everything on the roof will be shaved off, & some real hummer worthy tires cant really narrow the susp on it, so the plan is to also add some fender flares |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
he also dropped off these swamps too...
with our buck in the crapper again, buying from down south is getting progressively more retarded, 'cause i'd like to get another '50 chev kit, or even a donor cab & make a extended cab out of it. i think the porportions would look better than a crew, but, blaze & then hummer first. maybe find something by then... |

Ouch...take it easy and get all fixed up. I'm glad you stayed on the ladder and make things worse.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
welp, the dentist visit was not bad at all today...
of the 3 teeth that got knocked loose, (she showed me the x-rays, they came out 4.8 mm, 3 mm is considered a pull-out...) one for sure can be saved, it's tightened right up, the other 2, still not sure, a little tighter, but still broke through. she thinks one of them may be "knitting" itself..so no work today. she does not want to disturb it just yet, so next friday the re-constructive stuff starts. still sucks i got to walk around for a week with some dumb-ass wire stuck in my mouth.... but i did get a couple things done. got some bodywork on the hummer. dont know how a chopper is supposed to lift yer hummer from the mud bog with these sling hooks...proper ones going on filled in some military holes, chopped off the low mount air cleaner, be putting a proper hummer snorkel on it, and opened up the front wheelwells a few mils for more even clearance on the swamps. a little base paint on some stuff. rims are the truck color, and my longer snork |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
huh, just half to knock half yer teeth out and you'd be amazed how much you can get done...lol
hope the wife don't see this....get any idea's... the hummer is a pretty basic truck, so it's going a lot faster than the blaze. did manage to suck the wheels in a bit, but still getting flares just got the green sprayed, nothings detailed yet. italian (??) olive green |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
pretty much cant bite anything Dale, doc figures a couple months or so before i should be able to bite decently.....try to eat on my back teeth, but when yer chewing & your teeth touch together......jeez, nasty pain threw the 3 that got knocked out and are trying to get home....literally just toss the food down my gullet, dont really get to enjoy the taste, but hoping fri she can get something going...
and i AM getting some stuff done around the house (hunger does that...lol) hummer went together pretty fast. it's simple, but i like 'em. thinking i mite lower the lite bar a bit more.. |

For a snap together you got amazing detail on it. I agree on lowering the light bar. The Blazer interior looks fantastic.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale, but i really need to get my eyes checked, that snork aint very strait....
little more blazer stuff... 300 horse 350. battery cables look a little big, smallest wires i got left. thinking i'll have to take apart another old cassette deck in the shop... spent a few hrs working on rims. the rim lip fits in the hole, but there was a gap around the rest allowing it to rock, so they got a strip of styrene. the inners (from the kit) i cut the mounting hub off, drilled 'em out for my axles, then had to sleeve them with 2 strips of 015, one piece of 030 was to thick too bend nice and round. the rears i added brake backing plates, the fronts will be disc. also had to sleeve the steelie spare rim to fit the tire wit 2 strips of 015 as well first coat of primer, little more bodywork to do... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
I didn't notice the snorkle. I went back and looked, it's not that bad. Blazer engine and body are looking good. Those wheels are a lot of work but I bet they come out nice.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale!
yeah, them wheels took a few hrs to do...lol then i did'nt even use the steelie for the spare, found a chrome spoke, using it instead pluggin'along..... made a spare tire mount for the bumper, but i aint going to use it. without the topper on to visually shorten the truck, it looked weird hanging off the bumper- way too long, too much overhang....so made a quick little mount for inside the truck hoping to splash some color on the body today or tomorrow.. |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
while waiting for blazer stuff to dry....
remember this....1/2 an hr ago and 5 minutes ago.... hoping to find a spare cab before the blaze is done, would really like to make an extended cab out of this. if i can't find a cab, was also thinking of scratching up an old skool style camper for it....after it all comes out of the dot 3...lol |

Blazer is looking cool. I can't wait to see it painted. The old green will be cool.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
thanks Dale
had a couple screw-ups with the blaze. the dana 20 was to small for the lift and put the d-shaft right threw the trans crossmember and a couple other things. the '72's could come with a 205, so that's what it got and it clears everything beautifully now same wit the steering, crossover was hitting everything....so, dropped pitman & draglink, & a raised steering arm with a small steering block under it halfway threw the paint, third coat, one more, then clear it up. something oily must have got on the hood. tried to paint my way out of it, made a mess, tried sanding it out, bigger mess, so it's in the stripper right now, will try it again... but i'm loving the stripper right now, check out most of the '50....happy with how clean it came out, just have to clean up the glue joints |

Both are looking great, love the orange. I can't believe how good the dot 3 did. It looks brand new.

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
yup, i was impressed with how clean this one came out, no sanding...yayyy!
well i was going to finish the blaze today or tomorrow, but now i'm having a conundrum with it....just scored some parts for a blazer today, right out of the blue, was not even really lookin'.... the '72 grille came with the kit, the '69 i just scored. the '72 bumper & grille are separate pieces, the '69 is all one, but the pass corner is damaged, so cut it off & use the kit bumper. decisions.... and usually a fan of base line trucks, no chrome or trim.....and i went and sanded all the molded trim off the blaze...look what else i got....hmmmmm tempting. and a topper. pretty good shape, was black, hit it with some white.... also got some mirrors, the kit dont come with any (?!?) set of stock tires & tinted glass. any thoughts on any of this. purdy sure i'm liking the '69'er... |

Re: '64 chevy 2wd to 4wd
I though nk the 69 grill just to be different. I would use the side trim too. I would leave the roll bar loose so you can change your display every now and then.
