Re: HG's thread of miscelaneous stuff

Forgot one from sport wheels...

This next set is from a place in WI, SE of LaCrosse. I've been there before and pretty sure I posted pics from it before. This is one of the crustiest blazers ever. It's a parts truck. Has a tach dash, tilt, posi, tailgate spare holder, roll bar and probably more I forgot...

Extended wheelbase C-30

Mail jeep...

One he was working on for a customer...

Best of the bunch he had there...

Someones automobilia collection...

This was a display or mini train set up as a museum in a dinky little town I had a stop at. This is from an actual railroad that was working in the area. It's inoperable now. I gave it a quick inspection since the handholes were open on the boiler. It may be repairable but it would take a ton of work and money. The bottom of the boiler is rotted out, the tubes are shot. I'd bet the tubesheets are probably pitted real bad also.

They also had a small train for giving rides around the site, similar to the ones I posted that were in Iowa.

These are miniature replica cars and I thought the amount of detail they had was amazing. Full working suspension just like a full size car...

That's about it for now. I think I'm about caught up again until the next trip where I have time to play "I spy" by myself.

Re: HG's thread of miscelaneous stuff

Been awhile. I better get some pics posted. I was on my way to Rapid City SD and needed a break. I wanted to get in a little closer to the badlands area. Just a few miles east of Wall, SD I took the exit and saw this...

Heck yes! Lets check this out.

Of course it's the real deal. They (those who are not us) just want you to THINK it's a prop. Hidden in plain sight.

The "road" a term used loosely, continues past the missile silo to a prairie dog town.

There's more out there, hard to see with the iphone pic, but they're there.

Cows...

Continuing onward. Let's see what kind of trouble I can get into.

Cool piles of dirt.

I'm not sure what it is exactly but I think it's got a high clay concentration and would be slicker than #$&^ when it's wet.

This doesn't look too bad in the pic but was actually a fairly deep rut that took some maneuvering to get through without hanging up or damaging bady parts.

Another deep one.

Bad ruts, just need to stay out of them or I'd be calling for a tow and having to explain to my boss WTH I was up to.

This one was the end of the trail for me. Too risky. I scraped enough on the last ones to know the limits of the fusions wheel travel and approach angles.

Back to the cows.

VW bug stuff in western SD.

Re: HG's thread of miscelaneous stuff

Thanks for taking pics of the missile sites. There were ones in Iowa in actual silos. (Or the silos were the distraction) Supposedly the missles were taken to Colorado and decommissioned. But the sites are still off limits to the public.

Re: HG's thread of miscelaneous stuff

I know I've been slacking on this and I have a ton of excuses. Doesn't really matter what those are but here's a pic of my driveway...

61 nomad I saw at a show this summer. Built by a father/son in a home garage. They did everything except stichting the cloth, but did install that also.

Saweet Blazer...

This thing was badass, should have heard it. I got video somewhere that does little justice to the sound eminating from it.

This thing was over the top also...

I talked to the owner of USA-1. His shop is about a mile from my cousins house. He still has the first one with the 69-72 body in his shop and I think he said it's still running/driving. I told him to get die casts or models of that one made.

Nice...

If you're in your 40's or older this will bring back some memories of a time long gone...

Sure, I could use one of these...

Another cool blazer...

I liked how the tailgate was painted. We talked to the owner for a while. He bought a transmission/transfer case from me the next week. Him and his son are building a stepper 4x4

I don't remember what it was but I dig it...

The paint on this was gorgeous...

This monte was for sale about 6 miles from my house. Really nice car. It wasn't out there for long before it was sold.

Early Classic Industries?

Different than the manx buggy. Not really what I like, but anywho...

Anyone looking for a fastback mustang? Too late for these. I think he shipped them to Europe for some poor schmuck that is going to be in over his head trying to restore them...

Very nice pics, thanks for sharing them! The pic of the car in primer is a Henry J. I think a 51 or 52. I really like that cab forward truck. The supercharged LS is nice. But that turbo'd green lowered ride is super bad!

1/4 mile long. I thought about paving it and marking it off for a private 1/8 mile drag strip, but the farmer that uses the land around me drives heavy equipment on it, so it probably wouldn't last.

It was a time capsule for sure.

I feel weird posting pics from car shows I've been to but dammit, they look awesome. Like this...

A 2 wheel drive bike in a 4 wheel drive truck...

Cruisin for a bruisin...

I've seen a few of these kinds of conversions and I usually don't care for them. Obviously some people do though because they exist...

Timeless cool...

This was for sale. A lot of money. Like more than a new truck kinda money. Over the top for sure...

Bikes...

Long stepper...

It's got the phantom grille...

WANT!!!

Unfinished, I think...

I forget where I took this pic. I see things like this around all over. People love to decorate...

Ring brothers shop is in my territory...

Found this at a swap meet. It's a miniture trailer used for a sales display. All of it works. Would have loved to get it but way over what I was willing to spend...

We don't see many things like this at the swaps in MN...

Nothing special, until you look at the one option it does have...

There was a T handle under the dash that said "overdrive". I've never seen this option in this generation of truck before. But after looking it over and talking to the owner I believe it's genuine.

My family used to be dealers in Great Falls Montana for these. Rokon Trailbreakers. We used them for hunting. I put a lot of miles on these things.

Re: HG's thread of miscelaneous stuff

This car was sweet. I'd love to be cruising in it on a warm summer day with the top down.

I would have bought this cart but it was already sold. I was too late.

These things are supposedly rare but I see one or more for sale at every big swap meet I go to.

Snap on...

Wall mural in Little Falls, MN. I may have posted this before. Oh well...

How cool is this?

Very very cool. Check out the skis for winter trails...

Here's a real oddball. Square body with a 67-72 step side box.

This was a little crusty. Most panels had some rust, but not a lot.

This blazer plow truck was sitting near by. There was an extra top by the shop. The body looked fairly solid, but when I opened the door it smelled like dead animal.

This was a nice find. Same place as the brown square body stepper.

This was by the garage, waiting for it's turn to become great again.

He had a couple project trucks as well...

This is one of my projects. I got it along with a 79 Kawasaki KZ1300, a 1982 Nissan 280zx and a car dolly for $750. Helping a friend clean out a shed. There are a few parts missing but the gas tank was clean, so I'm hoping for the best when I get a chance to do more than wipe the dust off it.

The KZ1300. 6 cylinders of awesome! Oh and it came with a side car. We are having some problems figuring out what all is wrong though. Electrical issues. Missing parts for the starter. Rusty gas tank. If we can get it to crank over I'll take care of the carbs and fuel system, then brakes and tires and see what she'll do.

This is one of the coolest COE's I've come across. WANT!

I like these with the little cab...

Schells Brewery is local. I drive past this all the time. Party Bus!

I parted out this 1990 suburban I got from my cousin. He had a valve break on it, got a new head but never finished putting it back together. I scavenged a bunch of stuff for my crewcab build I'm doing. I took the remains to the local wrecking yard. He gave me $75 for it. Then I asked him if he had any vortec heads. He did. I gave him his check back for one head, then paid another $100 for the other head. Totally worth it. They'll work great on my 350 short block I'm building for my 71.

Man, you just posted a lot of awesome for sure! That K5 was a 73 which is 1 year only isn't it? The COE is wicked cool! That GTO, more awesomeness, that black apache is cool. The Skylark, you sure don't see many of them for sure. The snow cat could be fun. Hopefully we won't need one of these this winter.

The 73 blazer stayed that way through 75, with the full removable top.

Re: HG's thread of miscelaneous stuff

I was going to post a bunch of pics tonight. The past couple months have been insanely busy and I have a bunch of pics uploaded but the hotel internet keeps crashing. Just getting any posts made is frustrating. So here is a teaser pic from today. Maybe the next hotel wifi will be more stable. Sorry...
