Re: Glock's official "Project 68" build thread

Is this the same pic you showed us yesterday? Nice truck on Ebay...baby blue with a white top. Of course, yours will be better, no missing trim...but the color combo is sweet!

Re: Glock's official "Project 68" build thread

Here is the pic I showed you yesterday. It's kinda funny, the more I look at this picture, the more I feel like a teenage boy looking at a poster of some super model and thinking of all the ways I could have fun with her!!

I can't believe I've missed this thread somehow! Great looking job you're doing, love the way you're doing everything yourself. Just another reason this place is better than the mags, where it's always "this shop did this and that shop did that and the owner put this emblem on all by himself!"

Re: Glock's official "Project 68" build thread

Don't worry Krue, I'll keep bumping it up often!

I finally finished that stubborn right cab corner that I started last month. It did not match the curve of the door below the body line, so it needed tweeked!

Using Rokcrln's suggestion of cutting slits in the inside lip to get the shape back, I had done that and got the curve right. BUT, I was left with a good gap at the body line, and about a 1/2" gap at the bottom of the door. Using another of Kevin's tricks, I tacked TIG wire to take up the gap. I then cut a piece of sheet metal to use as a filler on the inside of the jam to fill the space in there.

Turned out pretty good. At least everythig lines up now, and no more gaptosis!

Before, the problem:

After the slits:

After the TIG wire was tacked in place:

And now:

Yep, thats what you have to do sometimes with this aftermarket junk. Most of the time I just make my own patch panels. Less fustration that way but it does help if the entire corner was rotted out.

Thanks! Nothing a half a spool of wire, a good grinder and 4 hours won't fix!

Also met two more board members today. ChevyDude and Lemield came up this morning. Alex and I did some swapping of parts. Also, another board member, Uncle, bought a truck from my Dad Thursday, so he was here til about 10pm that night. Good to meet everyone!!!
Bob,

I certainly enjoyed visiting with you and your kids. Bryce is quite the well spoken little fellow. I liked him immediately...since his first words to me were 'Wow...that's a nice truck!'

To start with, they aren't cheap! But, they are exactly what I wanted to use before I even knew they existed! Here is a link:

Larry - I was great to meet you too! I'm kinda proud of that kid, he gets the 5-6 year old streak going once in a while, but he is usually the little gentleman! And one thing he loves alot... these trucks!! He hasn't quite figured out the 71-72's yet, sort knows the 69-70's because of "Goldie", but he can spot a 67-68 front end clear across town! Good kid, he's alot of fun!

That is exactly where I am at, frame is done, cab half done but progressing. I need to get my cab in paint while I can still paint in my outdoor "paintbooth". The window of good weather for painting in an uncontrolled environment closes in Montana at the end of August, must stay focused!

I hear ya! The other side wasn't bad at all, only had to cut out the lower 2" or so. This side was worse, not just rust, but it has been dented and the PO filled it full of holes to use a screw-in slide hammer, so I felt it would be better to just cut it all out and replace the whole corner.

Well, the decision on the hood is final! I sold the cowl hood this weekend, and just today picked up a nice used stock hood for a local hot rod shop I used to work for. I'll take it and some other parts to the sandblaster this week, then it's back to work!

That it is! This is the frame from the "How to shorten a LWB frame" FAQ.

Re: Glock's official "Project 68" build thread

Didn't get much done this week except for the two side A/C vents. Cut the holes and installed the new vents just last night. I'm getting reeeeeeeal close to pulling everything back apart, except for the bed. Still haven't started on the fuel filler. And that's the whole reason I assembled the truck???

My girlfriend of almost 3 years says she'll never have to worry about me cheating on her... I'd be more likely to leaver her for a truck She doesn't have to worry anyway

Progress looks great. If you keep this pace up, you might be done before me!
