Re: Restoration on the 72 has begun.. 11/25/08

i also had to replace the corners of the rear floor that the tank covers up..the floor was rotted there.. just took flat sheet metal stuck in a vice and bent it then welded it in.. sorry no pics because 9 gallons of gas in a tank is heavy when your putting the tank in/out by yourself

Re: Restoration on the 72 has begun.. 11/25/08

i just want to give a big thanks to a board member that has helped me do a lot of the fix 88jrfan (daren).. i dont know anybody else that is doing the same exact fix i am do and doesnt mind working on his truck then helping me at the same time...thanks daren!! the truck is on hold for awhile..since im only 18 money gets short and im tryin to keep my parents check book out of my build as much as possible... if they do help pay i plan on paying every penny back so when im finished i can say that an 18 year paid for this out of his pocket.. ill post more pics later but like i said its on hold because i also have to save money.. my senior class is going to orlando, flordia so i gotta save money for that...

Still got to get the cab corner put in, then finish the outer rocker. Then fix one small rust spot on the floor. Fill in all the extra holes that i don't need and that should be about it.

Can the front cab supports be replaced without removing the cab from the frame? Just supporting it with jackstands and such?

Re: Restoration on the 72 has begun.. 11/25/08

thats all im gonna do.. im going to put a few 2x4's or 2x6's on a jack and put it on the rail under the cab and jack it up til it wont go no more then im going to slap in the support and weld it... i already fitted the driver side and drilled holes for spot welds so i assume it should work...sry no pics yet i have to wait til i get my cab mounts so i can put that little sleeve in the support before i mount it up

Re: Restoration on the 72 has begun.. 11/25/08

that car was built for speed!!

my friend and i racing. hes in the chevelle

this is my dads mustang.. he wanted to race too.. the temp gauge doesnt work so we pushed it back to the start line just so it dont get hot.. the motor is out of it right now.. im goin to college for automotive restoration and im taking the motor ( 302 ) and makin it a 347 stroker and puttin it back in the stang

dad raced me twice.. he beat me once since all i did coming off the line was spin my tires..
