Re: 67 C10, Greentruck From the Greenhouse

Thanks for bumping my thread so many times 67chevy1series! I feel so bad about not updating for so long but man do I have a lot of new ones. New ones to you guys that are old to me since I'm such a slacker when it comes to updating the thread, shouldn't happen again.

Anywhooo so I got the new engine in and all and Im gonna assume that you guys probably want to hear what it sounds like with open headers (if you didn't cheat and subscribe to my youtube, hehe).

Finding the headers was kind of a pain since I planned on keeping the 3 speed for a while. Luckily I found someone on here that went through the same thing and he posted the part number of the ones that fit. Flowtech 11500FLT for anyone who finds this post.

Check out the fit:

That rod next to the tube moves forward when the clutch is depressed

A look underneath and that rod with the cotter pin on it moves backwards away from the tube. Very close fit on both accounts but zero amounts of interference.

Re: 67 C10, Greentruck From the Greenhouse

Happy that they fit but they probably dont have 50 miles on them yet so I can say anything about longevity. They did however come with the worst gaskets I've ever seen but since then I have replaced them with the thick aluminum gaskets and they work great.

More updates to come in a few.

Re: 67 C10, Greentruck From the Greenhouse

So after blowing up and replacing the engine it was time to chip away at other stuff. Cleaned out the cab and put in a new gas tank and sending unit.

Got a new ignition switch since I couldn't find the original keys anymore.

I got a seat from a guy on the boards. Good deal and only a short road trip with my friend to get it. It has some ripping where I sit but its in overall good condition and the color almost matches the green interior. Close enough for me for now.

Starting to look like a real truck!

Re: 67 C10, Greentruck From the Greenhouse

Finally got all the stuff to complete the engine and stole the air cleaner off my great aunts 69 Caprice for now.

A picture of it this year after I got the last tire put on the right rear.

Then I got some proper valve covers at a swap meet this spring. My friend sandblasted them for me and I painted them.

Much better as I am not a fan of chrome unless its on the outside.

Truck looks great! leave the body etc alone and enjoy it! Motor looks great I hoped you'd loose the valvecovers!

Re: 67 C10, Greentruck From the Greenhouse

I may have mentioned it previously but the original valve covers had holes in them where the rockers for cyl #1 were wearing holes in them so I had to get the chromies as a stopgap solution. I think the rocker arm holes had something to do with the valve falling into the cylinder.

oldblue1968chevy, it is going to stay looking like this for at least this year and next, maybe one more year after. I'd like to get all the mechanical stuff squared away first and then make it pretty. This winter the big expense will be disc brakes for the front and at least a 5 lug conversion to the back. It will be lowered a little too, not slammed but its a little too tall for me right now.

So last year after I put the headers on I rigged up an exhaust with some of those tubes you can get at the parts store and a couple of the cheap "turbo" Dynomax mufflers hoping that it would be fairly quiet. I was going to go with the "ultraflows" this year but the turbos are still too loud for me and the ultras will be louder for sure.

Got this video of the temporary exhaust. It sounds wicked cool I just wish it was a little quieter although that may happen when I get the rest of the piping installed.

Temporary enough that its still on there right now

Awesome gaskets that I got cause money is no object for me when it comes to exhaust leaks.

Got a peep mirror from a hot rod show I went to a couple weeks ago. I don't think I'm going to put the huge mirrors back on.

New turn signal switch cause the other one had a floppy stick and the left side didn't work. The left side still does not work but the stick is now firm and clicky.

No reason to post the horn button after I put it back on other than it is a sweet-ass horn button.

Got some wire looms to keep them off the headers.

New battery cables that I bought on a whim without measuring. Negative came out fine but the positive is way too long. I'm trying to think of a creative way to make it look ok without cutting it. Also installed a custom overflow tank

I also put in a Pertronix, filled the transmission and rear end with fluid, replaced everything in the back brakes and greased all the fittings in the front end (no pictures of that excitement). Spent 7 hours running around and at the DMV but I finally got it regged in my name, woot!

So I'm waiting to hear from the windshield guy to see if the new one is coming in tomorrow. I still have to figure out why I don't have a left blinker and a couple of other small electrical problems but it runs pretty well and is a noteably smooth ride compared to any of my other pickups.

It hauls ass too for a little 283. I can't wait to get it to the track and see what it will do. Yes I am going to race it with a 3 on the tree
