Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

When I went to see the truck..From what I understand the Truck had a camper top on it for most of its life..the bed does have some rust spots but its all good from what I could see..The rocker panels on both sides will have to be replaced its really bad..Keeping my fingers crossed for this guy to buy my car ..When I went and looked at it the engine looked pretty good, they had installed a new radiator not long ago.everything looked normal under there. Its an automatic Truck, which is a big big plus for me .But I do think they're holding it mainly because the woman knew my grandfather and I told her how much the truck would mean to me, and I would take good care of it and drop it by once its on the road again

I liked the fact that its dual exhaust and it came Factory from that, from what she told me..Y'all have no idea how happy I am to finally find a truck worth .2 cents ..Thanks everyone on the wishes, as when I get this thing home..ill take a pressure washer to it and clean everything may have to take the bench seat out and clean under there..the beds covered in grease or so..Would you know my older friends Truck he gave me his Gmc Grille and Tailgate, although the tailgate isn't worth .2cents...God I am so happy !!!!!!!

Hey Schrum, better get some money down on that beauty! If you want, Ill float you a hundred bucks so you can get a ten percent deposit down on it before somebody slides in and gets it out from under you.

I appreciate it man, but there would be no way to repay you :P

Well I am hoping they keep there word on holding it for me, they said they're going to clean it up for me as in taking all the stuff out of it in the cab and in the bed and washing it..He has all the chrome trim for it, and id like to put it back on once I get it

Some reason I can't upload the photos I took of the doors

Why don't you get a title loan on the cougar? Maybe you could go over to their house and do some chores to work off some of the cost.

If you weren't all the way on the east coast... I have a TH350 out of a Chevy van that I would give to you. It's a little greasy... but it works. Needs a T/C...

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

I appreciate everyone's concern.I am literally kicking and screaming over this truck...I cant wait to get it home take the bench seat out and clean it and then start on my own project..

Im broke as hell right now, and thats why im trying to sell my Cougar asap...I am sorta scared it'll be sold....If people are serious about donating(Which I appreciate it buy none of you have to) just PM me and ill send an address and when ever I guess I get it ill run it down there and put a deposit on it just to make sure ill own it

Although they promised not to sell it and hold on to it for me, Once I get it running and cleaned honestly I think I'll sleep on the seat for a couple nights

BTW what does Sierra Custom mean...it has a emblem on the door right below the window saying "Custom"

I can't believe it has dual exhaust...I am very eager to join the crowd and have my own project...

Cheers everyone !!!

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Schrum,

First off, on behalf of the multiple others in the community who were also annoyed by your style of posting thousands of meaningless 5 word responses to virtually every thread written, I wanted to thank you for no longer doing that. Even though someone can be added to an ignore list, it doesn't stop threads we are subscribed to from lighting up when that happens. I'm not sure if you're maturing, or if you've just been absent, but it has been refreshing, so thank you. I'd almost be willing to donate $20 to your cause if you can keep that going lol.

That being said, I wanted to address a question to others in the community. What kind of lesson is this teaching him if we give him money? He's not disabled. He isn't a veteran. He's just a kid that wants a truck, and hasn't saved any money.

SCHRUM, do you have a job? What about following the advice of others to get a title loan on your other vehicle temporarily, until you can pay it back after selling the other vehicle? What about doing the yard work for this lady? What about being creative, and coming up with another way?

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Oh I have a perfect way to get money, and honestly I appreciate the concern in wanting to donate but I don't need it..I will do it for myself to learn a lesson on working hard to get something you really want and im doing exactly that..Calling back and discussing with the people who want my car, and interacting with the people who own the truck ..The grandmother really wants me to have it and that's why I am working so hard to get the money by myself..Should get it less then a week or so

No I do not have one, and I am applying at places to get one, and signing up for some College courses in the Fall..

Ok, cool. Well, a bit of advice... You need to put a small deposit down and do a bill of sale. As much as this lady thinks you're a nice kid for calling her regularly, and that she knew your grandfather...sometimes business is business. She's got bills and obligations, and if somebody else calls her off that ad that's still running and offers full price, you're screwed

Re: Found me a possible truck 1971 gmc swb

Yeah that is true, I'm contacting the person who wants my Car...and telling them if they want it to come get it ...Thanks for the advice Mister-B its greatly appreciated, and for the roll I plan on going ahead and just stepping on the old rocker panels to break them and then get new ones and have them welded in, as Thats pretty much all it needs besides a Tailgate..and a lil patch ups here and there..although I guess Custom means it was Custom optioned?, but anyway I am keeping my Fingers crossed on this truck and praying I get it

Well I am actually on Medication to calm me down, as before I was all over the place and posting like "haha thats cool" or that looks nice...as now I would like to sit and think about it and Read and learn before barking and getting bit
Cheers everyone

The 72 Gmc trim levels were;
"Custom" the base/standard trim level
"Super Custom"
"Sierra"
"Sierra Grande" the highest trim level
