Re: Joined the Short Wheelbase Club *69 Tahoe Project*

...so I had a couple things in mind

First the 68 clip:

OG clip

and here's a good display of the extra space with the mod'ed fenders:

The front end came down a little more with the old inners out:

This is how much room I have aired-out, 1.5" cups, 2.5" spindles and ~28" tires With the new inners installed I figure I'll have about an inch to play with:

I'm going to buy an extra set of inners to extend them. Mine have some lower rust anyway. And with all this extra space I may have no choice but to chop the crossmember

The next thing itchin to go on was the headers. They went on with no frame clearancing required.

First, here's why long tubes and bagged trucks don't mix...

Man that's ugly, but this is better

Driver's side went on without even pulling the plugs. Passenger side was a little tighter but still had enough room not to grind IMO:

Passenger side:

This is pretty close here at the tranny and collector, but it's not touching. I may grind a tad there:

So with the exhaust progress in mind I've been wanting to put cut-outs in my TA xmember. I've also been wanting to remove the man-hole-cover-hook that is the center of that thing. So I figured I would start with that:

I really like that x-member mod. Simple, practical and it looks good. Glad to see you back at it.

Ya, you know, I would have just gone with the ECE version but I'd have to take the body off the frame to get to the upper rivets... Plus this was more fun. Well, doing it with the truck on jack stands wasn't the easiest thing to do. ...but it was worth it.

Those headers look like they're gonna work out really well. I'm waiting on my 3" dia. extensions to start on the rest of the system. The headers came with 3"-2.5" reducers.

I suppose you could use the air bags to bounce the right side up in the air.

Man, last time I carried something that heavy, I threw out may back, so be careful when you lift that tahoe, remember, don't lift with your back!

Lookin' good. When are we going to see paint?

In that case, you may want to consider a fiberglass front end for the Tahoe-burb. That's probably a real bear to carry in and out... especially by yourself.

Well good thing you cut like a foot or two out of it, must be a ton easier to carry now.

It's cool, I've got one of those lifter's belts the warehouse guys wear

Paint? In all reality it'll probably be another year. I have a lot more mods to go

That's just pure laziness CG... Yep that's the plan.

I have a perfectly functioning OG linkage, but this is for the exhaust clearance. I'll be putting it on as soon as it gets here because I want to have it in place when I run the exhaust. Should be here this week.

Oh man, believe me, I take everything out of the glovebox before I even think about carrying it myself

I know, otherwise I would have definitely needed my girlfriend's help. And she would have given me a hard time about not doing it myself ...situation averted
