Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Not trying to be critical, but I think the 'some rust' disclaimer is a bit of a understatement judging by the difference in the body line on the drivers side between the cab & bed.

Hers is one that is on EBay now. The owner states good candidate for restoration but I have my doubts.

Not a horrible truck, but....if those cab corners are "solid", i do have doubts as to the rest of the solidness of the metal

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I meant to put this one up earlier. Nice truck in its day with great colors and A/C, BB and the YG8 Highlander Package and it's on EBay now.

I don't know if it's been asked, but was the Highlander available on the 3/4 ton & 1 ton trucks?

Yes, C10-30 Fleetside pickps, C10-20 Suburbans and both 4x2 and 4x4 Blazers (the only Highlander 4x4s and the only Highlander plaid buckets were Blazers).

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Hidden Highlander 20 resurfaces!
Again for sale this once Deluxe Two-Tone of Hugger Orange with orange plaid YG8 is being offered at better than twice the price it was in May. Gotta love flippers!
But on the off chance it is good under all that paint, primer and "new parts" here it is.
BTW: The last seller stated total mileage and history was unknown.

Great reference pictures of a now sold Orange Plaid back seat under a period plastic cover. Scroll work detail is awesome!

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Someone help me here? I have purchased a 72 custom deluxe highlander and it does not have the body side molding on it. It has a lower molding code of BX2. Was this code for the black or wood grain molding?

THe BX2 code alone does not indicate the infill. Do you have a build sheet for the truck? Since the truck has been reworked and had the seat recovered it seems unlikely.

In your molding poll response, you indicated Black, did you have a molding in hand to base this on?

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...99#post7673799

Your truck, as built, had both the upper and lower bodyside moldings. Being a Highlander trim upgrade truck it most likely had Black infill lower moldings (uppers are all the same). Also it was painted a Conventional Two-Tone in Medium Blue(510) with a White(521) roof only.

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I don't think it has a build sheet; haven't looked for it. I do not have any moldings for the truck. I have not started working on it as of yet. I was looking at some pictures of other trucks and was wondering if it had the black or wood grain molding before I started ordering the moldings for the truck. I was thinking it came with the black, but was not sure. I was hoping to start working on it after the first of the year. I have to finish another project I am working on first.
Thanks for the response

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

I have noticed that most of the spids have that there is plaid on the seat, is it possible mine was ordered without plaid as it is not listed on the spid anywhere?

Re: Do you have a 1972 Plaid Pickup?

Some just say "Custom Trim" but do have the correct RPO. What does your SPID say regarding trim (incl code)?

If we are talking about 2F365700 it was built with the Highlander Plaid. Both the 611 trim code and the YG8 PromPackage codes confirm this.

Specifically
1 611 10 CUSTOM TRIM COMBINA
Indicates Blue Plaid seat trim and the special combination of white and black parts used in all Highlanders.

1 YG8 20 SPECIAL PROMOTIONAL
Indicates it was optioned with Promo Package "C" which included the Highlander Plaid trim as part of the package's fixed contents.

In summary you have two lines on the SPID indicating Plaid Trim and one specifiying Blue Plaid trim.

If you are comparing a 72 F SPID with one from another plant (like 72 Z) you will see differences, often a lot!

Great first post! Welcome to the forum!

Good luck to the two of you with your "new" YG7, promo package "B" Highlander 3/4 ton.
If you get a chance, a closer shot of the SPID would be apprecialted.
