I'm just messing with you. It is a nice bed though. It's a long bed with dual tanks. This is the truck I was going to rebuild before I found the stepside. I think the Grandpa Camper was on it since the truck was new because it has no dents in the bed.

That's why I love shopping with Summit. They've usually got some of the best prices, and pretty quick shipping. I hope this fixes your timing issue.

Yeah there typically cheaper than most everywhere else. Believe me Duane I'm believing for the same thing, I have my fingers crossed.

Crazy thing is, is the only thing I've bought from Jegs is my headers which they had pretty quick shipping but when I started looking at summit for prices I was hooked and just kept purchasing from them.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well fellas I'm not sure if y'all have ever really read the build from the beginning but the rims and tires have always been a temporary thing, wasn't going to be the wheels I have on the truck forever well after talking with Pro Performance about some rims I really wanted the Chip Foose legends I was at first told I could due to back spacing/hub issues and once I talked with Pro Performance I was told I could run them they have the backspacing needed. So here's the future rims for the project at some point in time Chip Foose Legends I'll be running probably a 20x8-8.5 front and 20x10 in the rear so what you guys think?

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well.......I wish I had better news but I don't I went to my local O'reilys and called another one when I got off work and neither of them had the balancer puller/install in stock, the closest 1 was 15 minutes away and after being at work all day, I didn't feel like driving another 15 minutes to go get it so I'll be waiting for it to be at one of the stores closer to me. So hopefully this weekend I'll be able to get it done fellas!

Yeah that's why now I'm really on the fence about the paint job, because I know doing a red like that the black accents I'll have done will make it pop and that midnight blue will make it blend, so man I don't know it's going to be tough decision.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well forgot to tell y'all I got a couple goodies from edelbrock when I got the carb and stuff received those today pretty cool T-shirt I like it. Now onto the bad news didn't finish getting everything off got everything done except pulling the cam sprocket off didn't have the right part. Also found out the timing chain was completely off and i'm talking dreadfully off no wonder the truck hasn't been running great in its life I've owned it. Its being solved now and that's what matters well here's some pictures I took tonight going to try and finish it up tomorrow or this weekend.

One of the pictures of the balancer you can see the actual mark and where the PO put it. Well oh well glad to get some new stuff on the truck and get it running right.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Also I think we found the heart and soul to the issue of this truck not running right ever! you can't see the bottom but if you look at the timing chain the top gear you can see a little tiny circle that's there well for y'all that may not know that's supposed to be lined up with the bottom gear well that's not exactly how that's working the bottom cam sprocket gear is lined up correctly, so being that the top gear was 180 degrees off I think it's safe to say I have found the issue with the truck.

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

Well damn. I thought the chain might have been an issue, but I've got to say, that's a first for me. I've never heard of someone installing a timing set 180 degrees off. Guess he could have lined up TDC of the exhaust stroke??? maybe the dots will line up then???

Glad you've got it figured out though. Hope it runs like a champ after you finish.

Honestly it blew me away myself, my only thing I can think of is maybe they thought they knew what they were doing, and put it where it's at? I mean anything is possible but when I saw that I was told 67 c10 guy no wonder it ain't been running right I was like it's not even lined up correctly!

Yeah it's a big relief that's for sure, and I'm sure it will it's going to run so good it's not going to know what to do about it

No. That's not the problem. That's fine.

The camshaft turns at half crankshaft speed - rotate the crankshaft one full turn (the cam will rotate half a turn), and the two dots will line up. Guaranteed.

Okay, then if that's not the issue what would be my issue? Not sure if you had read it all but my truck was timed at 0 advance which it idled fine but wasn't exactly drivable. We've verified tdc, made sure the rotor was where it's supposed to be, what could be causing this hiccup?

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

So once again me and my friend have doubled and tripled check tdc, on the dizzy the cam gear, and No. 1 cylinder. If we turn the crank 1 full rotation it just goes back to where it was initially and would be at tdc for cyl 6.

So now going to bite the bullet and get a new cam. Reason for that is the cam is 180° out which would cause me of course to not run right

Re: 1977 Chevy C10 known as SharkBite

I actually take that back, no way my cam be 180° out or the truck wouldn't even run, so its coming back to the balancer so hopefully finish it up this weekend and getting running right fellas I appreciate all the advice that has been given I can't say thank you enough.
