Finally have exhaust going out the back. What a messed up deal. I offset the engine to the right for ease of hooking up the steering. Had to rework the Y pipe so it would clear the frame. I knew I should have gone with an inline. Bought a knock off magna-flow dual kit for the dakota chassis.

Been working the last couple weeks on the interior.

Painted the back panel gray

Welded the holes in the floor and got undercoat on it

Painted the frame under the seat, the mini console & put in the rubber mat

It's about ready to come off the lift.

Took the truck out of the garage after the storms went through this morning. The only plan for the day was maybe play some golf. Didn't get there, started playing with the truck.

Installed the headliner

The windlace around the doors

an mp3 jack

Added an antenna

put on the door cards

Last week I applied for collector plates and have the temporary permit in the window. Today I found out my insurance (full coverage) started, was only supposed to be comp til July. So I took a quick half mile run with it before putting it away. The trans is a little off, hope it's just a little low.

I needed to cover the factory holes in the firewall as all the heat coming in was worse than the weather we've been having. Went to a local fab shop to pick up some brushed aluminum, a 12"X12" piece and another 3"X21". Here is what I came up with.....

Along with miscellaneous stainless fasteners from Fastenal and riv-nuts, a $20 upgrade on a Saturday morning.

Sunday I took it for a drive through the country looking at the corn crops, 20 miles of smiles

Last night I went for a 60 mile cruise in the country, drove by 4 different town halls. Got home and decided to adjust the headlights. When I pulled out the knob the retaining nut let loose. I knew the threads were weak when I put it in. Today I found a 3/8-24 bolt and made the replacement on the lathe.

Looks like the old one, works better.

Great build and congrats on getting it on the road. After reading your thread, I'm quite interested in the Dakota chassis swap. Can you tell me what your ride height is and what size tires you are running? I'm curious if it would be possible to mount the body a little lower on the frame and keep the bed floor at stock height.
