Re: Project Daily Driver in the weeds

Did a little work to the hood this weekend. I needed to blend in the front.
A little cutting and some bending

Filler pieces cut from parts that I had cut off. This way they had the same contour.

Still needs a little bit more welding and clean up.

Re: Project Daily Driver in the weeds

yes and no. I did get the hood all welded up, both front corners moved forward a bit, the back of the cowl trimmed, and it bolted back onto the truck.

Ive got some wood in the back holding the shape, I need to weld a piece in there to keep the shape. Then bring the center up a tad.

Ill be taking a small break from it as this weekend I need to prep my wheeler for a trip the following weekend to the rubicon. And got another parts truck to part out.

subscribed like the hood/hood scoop really cool idea and the way you fixed the p.o.'s frame (for lack of another word) "fab" work also your slimming down of the factory intake will be watching with intrest.

Re: Project Daily Driver in the weeds

Thanks for the kind words. About the only thing Ive done this week is order some drilled and slotted rotors for the front. Under $100 for the pair to my door. I hope they work.

Been also getting this ready for a trip to the rubicon this coming weekend.

With that said it should be a week or two before I get a chance to do anything to this. I wish I was driving it already.

This past weekend I went from this

The previous weekend I did some of this

I dont think Ill be home much this weekend.

Re: Project Daily Driver in the weeds

So I suppose its time for some kind of update..lol
Still building the 4x4, about to start a build thread for that too.
But having this thing as a beached whale in my garage is starting to bug me. So with some income tax money hitting my pocket, I bought some tires. Also got the headers coated but I dont have a picture atm.

Only got the fronts for now. Ive needed them so that I can cycle the suspension to make sure Im not hitting the firewall. I dont want to go through all the trouble of doing all the sanding to the firewall and then find out the tires hit and I have to cut into it.
Had to pack the bearings and get the new rotors mounted up so that I could bolt the rims on and cycle the suspension.

The only place it hits is the lip on the fender to mount the inner wheel well. Good thing I can shave that away. I think with that gone Ill be ok.

Post 23 you made I noticed the pass side floor board you welded up it looks like where seam sealer goes picture 6 and 7 in post 23. Can you tell me more about why you chose that? Great build by way. Brandon

Check post 19. See that patch I welded in on the firewall? The bottom of the patch lands at that seam. Just seemed like an easier place to land the patch seam and weld it up.
