Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

think there was one one here that done that tailgate mod on a older truck he allso used a set of extra stepside fenders as the inner fenders/tubs think it was a 56/57 apache truck because the fenders where more slanted .

you might want to raise those fenders to be level with the sidewindows and allmost loose the edge of the bed alltogether and just sheetmetal the space across the fenders in at the back to make the mod look right

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Very nice truck Sperz1.

I finally have one to add to this thread too.

That's all I have for pics right now. I just got it home yesterday evening. The interior is a little rough and the body is what I'd call "good from far" but I'm glad to finally have a shortbox.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

82chevyc10,
looks like a pretty clean truck. I think I noticed those wheels the other day. I don't remember who makes them, but are they called Nascars? I was thinking "that is a simple nice looking wheel that would look good on a square body or any boxy type vehicle". I wish the whole lip was polished though. Do you have any pics that better show the wheel

What part of town are you in?

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

yeah, they're made by Victory...I like em, but the offset was pretty shallow, so i had to use wheel spacers in the rear...the lips are actually yellow lined, like the old school wagon wheels they used to put on trucks in the 80s. No other pics as of yet. I'm from the Sugar Land area.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Hey All,
Here are some before and afters of my 84 GMC Sierra Classic that I am restoring.
I was able to find original trims and centers via ebay and they were in very great shape.
I just ordered a new grill to replace the cracked chevy grill that it had when I bought it, I also ordered new headlight bezels to replace the cracked faded originals.

Engine compartment is next then interior.

I'm thinkin maybe 31's in the near future or 33's but not sure if 33's will clear.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Here is my '74 Shorty Stepside. She ain't much to look at but she has 95,000 actual miles. I plan to slam it and change the wheels, probably just to a 15X8 rally wheel, this is a daily driver and I don't intend in investing much into her for a while yet. She has a 250 six with a 3 speed column shift and runs drives & rides great. I am planning to drop in the 327 out of my '63 C10 once I start the restoration (on the '63 that is) I'm undecided on the trans though, I kinda like the column shift but we'll see... Oh yeah, that rear bumper has got to go! I am contemplating making a 60-66 stepside bumper fit on her, they look much better than that 200 pound chunk' of steel! So I exaggerated a little!

the mellow green one can stay,, like the color on the '63 you should keep that one together. 350 blocks are a dime a dozen, only they don't cost a dime. a 350 would go good in the '74, with a 400 tranny.

The '63 as I said is and would already be torn down if the Jerkwads at Diamond Outdoor of the Carolinas would quit lying and just drag there sorry butts over here and put my garage up. It is in need of total resto and it will be repainted green but not that shade of green (not even close), it is also getting a 6.0 LS motor & 4L65E trans so even though 350s are a dime a dozen the just under 15,000 mile, totally rebuilt 327 in it will be free so as I said before it's what will be going into the '74. I will do one of three things for the trans on the '74, those are, a: nothing, b: a 5 speed, c: a 700R4. My '82 S10 is an auto overdrive and so is the '63 so I kinda like having one truck that I get to shift gears manually in... It bothers my back using a clutch since my spinal fusion surgery but it's not too bad unless I'm in town going stop light to stop light and shifting, and shifting, and shifting...

OK, gotcha, yeah I'd kinda like to go back trucking and feel the gears go into place ,,know what you mean wanting to have at least one that you could shift,, feels good !! good luck with your restore.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds

Thanks guys for all the compliments,I've been looking through the pages and pages in this thread you guys have some awesome trucks, I've been a fan of 73-87s since owning a '78 fleetside back in the early nineties, I wish I still had that one but I like the stepside as well. I'm a sucker for all old Chevrolet trucks. I have a lot planned for the '63. She's my pride & joy, a truck I had wanted since I was a kid, but when I finally got one it wasn't exactly what I wanted so I made it into what a wanted. I'll let the pictures tell the story... The last pic is of the wheels that are going on it once my garage is finally built (and not a day before). They are Boyd Coddington Magneto 6 with Toyo Proxes ST-2 tires, front wheels are 18X8 rears are 20X8.5, I wanted to go with 20's and 22's but I bought these new from a warehouse overstock sale for $500 so 18's & 20's it is!
